was watching tv (2 ish am sunday) and saw about the shooting live, hardly any info for hours
except a bit on facebook by people who escaped.
not sure if i was/am numb, too shocked or what really, young kids partying (like i have)
in a gay club and killed/shot because,,,
can't imagine how their families, friends are. too bloody senseless/heartless/hateful.
turned on cbc cross country checkup on sunday and the topic wasn't french
immersion:
'It's being called "unimaginable," and "the worst mass shooting in U.S. history" by a single gunman. 50 people are dead, including the gunman, and 53 are injured — many critically — following the shooting in a gay night club in Orlando, Florida.
Orlando shooting: 'LGBTQ Muslims in a vulnerable position'
'After a gunman opened fire earlier today at a gay night club in Orlando, Florida, members of the LGBTQ community are reacting. El-Farouk Khaki founded the Toronto's first LGBTQ mosque with his partner. He spoke with Checkup guest host Asha Tomlinson about the effects this tragedy will have on his communities.'
thinking i am in shock, but getting my temper up like it did in the 1980's when i protested
the bath house raids, which turned into toronto's pride,, used to be a few hundred,,
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace, you
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one

was so heartbreaking to see/hear the other people in the bar speak about what was happening.
the relatives and friends, wondering where their loved ones were.
can't imagine, and the medical staff hearing phones,, good lord,,
on a personal note sort of surprised/depressed that no one had started a thread earlier than i did,
and that hgirl and i are the only ones to have posted here.

I think people are just fed up with hearing about another mass shooting every week. It has nothing to do with how they feel about the people who were killed. (I have born again Christian friends posting pride flags on their face book pages this week.)
It's insane that dozens of people being gunned down while going about their life has become old news, but that's what the U.S. has become. Until they decide to do something about it, there really isn't anything new to say.
