I've struggled with printers for so many years (including Canon). The 1 printer that was the most reliable was Brother. It was way more expensive than the average printer, but it lasted a while and printed when it was supposed to.

I've had a few HP printers and setups (I. e. cloud, mobile wireless, etc) we're super easy. Downside is some of them don't last that long maybe 3-4 years. But I've also had one of the same model that worked for 8+ years.
Now we use a Canon and setups for it gives me headaches, so I'm stuck with printing from our desktop computer.

My advice would probably be get a printer with only features that you need. Anything more than that would complicate how the printer works, more possible breaking points, and usually more expensive.
