Redeeming point on bonus points days?

Ok I thought I could do this but was told otherwise. I thought as long as my subtotL hit $50 today id get 20x the points! I had $52 in stuff. Down to $32 after coupons. Wanted to use $30 in points. I asked BEFORE my coupons were used if u could do this. She said no because it will bring me under the $50 mark so this can't be done? I swear I've seen people post receipts that have done this...?

You csn bring your total down wirh coupons but you have to still be above 50 after redemption
Today I spent 124 before tax
Redeemed 60
So 64 then used coupons paid 47 got 20x on 64

Nope, redemption amount doesn't count.
She would only get the 20x on the $124-$60=$64.
Would be great if it worked the other way though
