I try to leave my kids with the cart (and coupon binder) while my back is turned if I am getting something from the shelf, etc. I do not leave my stuff out of my sight. It was a smartphone, I just don't use it for as much things as other people do, in the event that it does go missing and someone gets past my passcode.
michelle - I was telling my hubby this morning how so many people had their points stolen, etc. and how easy it is to get someone else's points to transer. He is going to sign up for a card now and that will be our 'secure' one, no one else will get the number and I'll transfer my points to it and kind of use it as a bank until redemption. SDM really needs to change their system for it and with so many people having points stolen I am really hoping that SDM does compensate everyone not only their points, but in a manner that is fair to those that missed out on Mega Redemption because of it.

Blk_rose - if you can, try to put the second card in someone else's name though. Technically one of the regulations with the Optimum card is one per person, hence why I'll be using my husband for it. As an added bonus, for some of the things that are limited one per person for bonus points and stuff, I'll have access to a second Optimum card for to get those points on! Getting the second card wasn't my idea, I found it somewhere else on Smart Canucks, it's a smart idea though, it's unfortunate that you lost out on points too.

There was a show once about people leaving purses in shopping carts. The woman had turned to check out vegetables with the cart right beside her. The "thief" went up right beside her grabbed her purse and left without her even noticing.
Ever since that, I keep my purse on me as thiefs know what they are doing when one is busy.
Think of this as something to learn from for you and for all of us. It's easy to slip when you are tired and busy.
