Good morning....what is a plateau? The 2nd definition seems to describe what I am experiencing with my weight loss plan
Unsure how a person can step on the scale and weigh EXACTLY the same for 5 days now?? Patience right? This too shall pass.

I think that's still great progress ....as you haven't gone up on the scale either. It takes a while for our unwanted weight to drop off...it was happy being with us .
You're doing great..hope you get out and enjoy some of the nice weather. I just came back from a beautiful walk downtown.

Congrats @walkonby . That’s a nice loss
. Remember it didn’t come on overnight and it most definitely will not go away overnight. Slow and steady win s the race.
I’ve added a weighted vest to my regular workouts. Sometimes it’s just regular casual neighborhood walking like on my rest days to using it on progressive hill walks on the tread (5km) or even some flat tread running! Strong over skinny is my goal.

Still hitting the gym. Yesterday was a 5km hill interval walk while wearing my 10lb vest. Technically I’m not supposed to be wearing it yet as per my PT so Shhhhhhhhhhh
. I’m not running in it and I’m decreasing the intensity if it starts to twinge instead of pushing through the discomfort so that’s positive.
Today will be some leg work and loads of stretching.

Hi everyone! Well, good news, I was down 2.2 lbs last week.
We started our week 3 of our weight loss challenge
The daily tasks this week were
1) exercise
2) 3 fruits per day
3) declutter
Fruit is usually a challenge for me but so far so good.

@crafter . That’s fantastic! Just goes to show that when you add up the little things they make big changes. Congrats.

I’m feeling good considering yesterday was leg day. Lots of leg extensions, curls, weighted squats and presses. Also weighted calf raises for my rehab on my achilles tendinitis. Oh the joys of getting older
. The plan is this morning for a “rest day” of tread walking with of course my weighted vest and then hopefully after Dh gets home full upper body strength training. Hoping I can squeeze that in…..
Have a great day everyone and keep on moving.

@crafter !! Way to lose!! Congrats on the progress. I'm still stuck in plateau land BUT today ( this morning ) I thought I'd try this.....don't laugh.

I managed to make it to the gym earlier today and brought my 81 year old mama too. I got her on an upper body arm cycling machine, posterior flexibility machine and the tread.
Unfortunately no additional strength training for me today

whew! I don't think I can look at another sardine for a while going forward. I've completed 72 hours of JUST sardines, water and black coffee as beverages.
It started out sort of fun and laughable but quickly turned to OMG I just can't open another can. I had a few varieties to try and make it interesting.
There were fancy skinless/boneless ones in water, others in spring water and ones in oil with the skin and bones included.
The only ones enjoying this fast were my 2 cats! Claudius and Hamlet were relentless every time I opened a can up, and yes I did share with them.
I lost 3.8 pounds since October 29th. meh??
More than this drop I just hope it has reset my metabolism because that 11 day plateau really bummed me out.
Not gaining weight during that time was a blessing but not losing really bugged me.

Wow @walkonby you’re a lot stronger than me! The only way I’d loose anything is because I’d be too busy “calling Ralph on the porcelain phone” so I wouldn’t eat anything! All kidding aside good for you for sticking to it. I have in the past done some VERY restrictive and dangerous things to loose weight so I’m too scared to do anything that is that restrictive for my own mental state. Hope you get the results you want and that you don’t have to do it again
.
Back to the gym this morning since it’s been pouring rain since the 31st ( actually before that). Strength training and some treadmill work.

@harbie yes I recall you spoke about some very risky weight loss methods that you learned from. At least you have come out the other
side to a much better way to manage it. Physical exercise. Plus you have your DH along with you to make it a team sport!
Congrats to you both on that. I never was a dieter at all in my 20's to my early 40's BUT after having that last kid at 39 it became clear
that my metabolism was changing. Enter menopause and then retirement and during all those years I began jumping on the healthy weight
loss train. I lost and gained and regained and started over and laughed and cried and lost even more and gained that all back.
It was then I knew I had become a yo-yo dieter!which can make you crazy, desperate and looking for the easiest way out.
This fast ( fish fast...lol ) is the first time I have ever done a ONE food restrictive thing and tbh, after watching the Dr. in the video explain
all the science of it I thought it could be safe for just those 3 days. I LOVE the description you gave of " calling Ralph on the porcelain phone ".
So true.
Things are back to normal here and I'm cooking with all the good and healthy varieties of food. I mentioned to my friend about " only " dropping
14.8 pounds since October 8th and she pretty much scolded me. Every pound counts. If I started carrying a 15 pound bag of anything around the
house today that could remind me to be thankful. ha ha
thanks as always for your input.Last edited by walkonby; Sun, Nov 3rd, 2024 at 11:49 AM.

Good for you at @walkonby for some impressive weight loss during October!
I commend you and your hubby @harbie for your gym conviction. Exercise does pay off
Well we had our anniversary celebration this weekend. Mulled wine, apple cider and a plethora of appetizers and munchies from a potluck on Saturday.
Yesterday, we thought that we were treat ourself to take out food for our annivesary "staycation" and I've got to be honest, I feel almost "ill" this morning. I think my body is screaming no!! My back and tummy are saying..stop treating your body so poorly...So I'm lining up a bland food day and I'll definitely opt for a soup or salad tomorrow for a ladies lunch out. I've definitely got to get back on the right track.
re our fitness challenge:
The tasks this week are:
Exercise
Fruit - eat 1 to 3 a day
Veggies - eat 1 to 5 a day

Happy belated anniversary @crafter . It’s funny how as we get older we can’t treat our bodies the way we used to or else they rebel
. Hope everything settles down for you as you get back into the routine.
YES @walkonby every pound counts! It definitely does. It’s a great reminder to say “ what if I had to carry a bag of XXXXXX that’s the same as what we’ve lost”. It puts it into perspective for sure.
I’ve been struggling with peri/meno for what started 3.5 years ago without knowing it ( still waiting to get blood work and see the dr for confirmation). I’ll tell you I don’t know how much I’ve “lost” because I know I’ve gained a ton of muscle so I try to avoid the scale but just putting on my 10lb weighted vest feels like 100lbs! Just that small amount definitely makes my workouts so much harder! Heck even walking is more strenuous.
So her ya go for your 14.8 pounds lost
