I'm just curious if others do what I do with leftover dry cereal. I will have a mixture container of cereal, right it has alphabits with marshmallows, shreddies, some bran flakes and a bit of rice krispies .
Is that weird of me to do that? Sometimes i'll crush up cereal and add to banana bread or muffins. I just don't like to be wasteful. I always say I'm not going to buy anymore cereal til the leftover containers are gone, but I always buy more especially when there's a deal. This thread is currently associated with: N/A

I used to make muffins for the squirrels. I would save my bacon grease, then melt it in a pan, add the leftover cereal or broken crackers, peanut butter and anything else I have at the time, put the mixture into muffin cups and then freeze them. I would keep them in the freezer and then just hang them out for the squirrels to eat in the winter

I know some people on disability in my building. I always give anything I don't want to them.

Leftover dry cereal? I usually eat it. I don't know if I've ever had left over dry cereal...I'm having a confused day...do you mean you took too much in your bowl and couldn't finish it...or the crumbs at the bottom of the box, when its not quite enough for a bowl.
When its not quite enough for a breakfast/snack...I'll eat it with a little something else like a piece of toast. But yeah, I've never had left over cereal. I buy it usually box at a time. In a small apartment cupboard space is at a premium, so I can't let half eaten boxes of cereal take up too much space.

The 'bottom of the box' stuff can also be used for pie and tart crusts.

I usually finish one box before opening a new one. If there's not enough to fill a bowl the next time, I'll just dump the rest into the bowl I'm currently eating.

I usually give left over cereal to the birds, but I noticed that when feeding the birds, I started to get mice in the house. The mice probably came for any crumbs and my house isn't far from my yard so they just naturally came in. Eek!!!
Now I always have just 1 box of cereal at a time

The kids eat it as a snack. They will eat anything if I let them. It's nice to see them growing up, but now they don't need me to make breakfast, unles they want pancakes. LOL
I move my cereals out of the box and into plastic containers, do to mice. I live in the country and even with 3 cats, the mice still get in. Instead of losing food I put it in containers. When it gets close to the bottom, I make sure to buy a new box, empty the container and pout in the new stuff.

Sugar cereals can be used on top of ice cream, pudding and yogurt but I use Corn flakes and healthier cereals for a home made breading for chicken or for a scalloped potatoes/au gratin crumble on top...
Another thing that makes a great crust on chicken or pork chops is your broken crackers in the bottom of the box
