    So I went today to Rexall to use up some FPC's that were expiring in December and to get my bonus AM's. I have done this time and time again and from time to time I have issues, always at the same store!!!!!!!! I wasn't planning on going anywhere today so I just popped out to Rexall and thought I would be in and out. WRONG!!!!!!!!!!! I hate complaining on here but my blood is boiling and I know you all will be the only ones that will truly understand how awful I feel.

    So I picked up the following and headed to the cash:
    1x Always Tampons $5.99 (FPC)
    3x Febreeze Noticeables Starter Kit $4.99 (FPC)
    1x Crest Pro Health Toothpaste $3.99 (FPC)
    3x Stride Spark gum $1.99 (FPC)
    1x Kashi bar $4.29 (FPC)
    1x Conair Hair Dryer $14.99 (no coupon )
    My total before taxes was $50.20

    I put all the items on the counter and the cashier asks if I have coupons and I say yes but I would like them to be entered at the end. She says no, she likes to enter them as she scans the product so I explained that if she does so then I will not receive my AM's. She says it won't make a difference and I try to explain that it will and explain why. She says she has to check with a manager but that he has stepped out of the store so could I wait. I said sure. So the manager returns after about 5 minutes or so and she calls him over and explains the situation and he says "no" that it won't work the way I'm describing it so I explain it again and ask if they could just do it my way to show that I am right. Haha, I know I'm stubborn but I KNEW I was right. Again he says no but I'm holding my ground!!!!! I say ok, so if I go to another store and it works there you know I'm coming right back here right??? He says fine, just do it your way then and walks away!!!!!! So the cashier starts ringing in my products and then asks for my coupons. When she gets to the gum I kindly explain that this is a different coupon and that it's not just a FPC but also not a 10cent coupon and explain how it should be entered, she looks at me and says "how did you know I was going to enter it wrong" and then under her breath takes the lords name in vain and proceeds to put in the coupons. I'm not a super religious person but I took great offence to this and found it uncalled for. At this point I am completely off my game and just want this over with. So she starts putting through the Febreeze FPC's and puts them in at $4.49 and I say "wait, those are $4.99". She looks at the coupon and quite rudly says "limit is $4.49, do you even read your coupons???" Right I totally knew this but I was so frazzled that I had forgotten. So all the coupons are entered, I pay, she takes a quite look at my receipt and says "oh, you got your AM's". Gee REALLY is what I wanted to say but I just took the receipt, and asked if she could call the manager back and she says snidely "I'll tell him". I barely managed a smile and walked away. I was shaking all over at this point and if someone had said something to me, anything I would have broken down in tears!!!!!!!!!!!! And she even put the gum coupon in wrong, it should have included the tax but I was too pissed off at this point to stay in that store one second longer.

    I hate this store and if there was another one anywhere near me I would go there but there isn't so I'm stuck with the rudeness and incompetence that I receive. But not today, I have never complained to head office before but today put me right over the edge so when I got home I called. I got a great rep and he took down all my information and completely agreed that the service I got was not called for. I told him that the store has no idea why I use coupons and that it shouldn't matter, that I use the coupons correctly and that's all that does matter. He completely agreed. So now I'm waiting to hear back from head office.

    If I could avoid the store I would but I will not be bullied when I am doing nothing wrong and they can all hate me there for all I care, I'm not there to make friends but to get good deals and help out others when I can. I stopped going to Zellers because I was getting such awful CS.

    Sorry for the long read but even after talking to HO I was shaking but now I feel a bit better

    Oh, and if someone has a FPC for Crest Pro Health from the dentist can you tell me what the value is of the coupon. She put in $3.89 and I just want to confirm that she didn't enter this one wrong as well as I don't have another similar coupon.

    What an awful experience... I feel like cashiers and managers don't trust the customer even though the customer has been to the store and has used coupons about 11293383 times. Obviously the customer would know what works and doesn't! Sigh.. I'm glad you complained to head office. I haven't had my blood boil enough to do so yet even though every SDM around me has said one coupon per purchase means one per transaction... which I said no its per item and they still disagree with me! ><

    I'm sorry you had a bad experience. Sometimes I wonder why people who are in customer service don't understand that whether you agree or disagree with the customer, it's in the store's best interest to remain pleasant.

    I do have a question about the coupons being entered for the AM promotion though. I, too, have saved up some FPCs that I would like to redeem at Rexall for the AMs. I'm not too picky about how they input it to cover the tax, I'll gladly pay the tax out of my own pocket, but I believe you mentioned in your post that the order matters? Could you explain this to me since i'm not too familiar with how this promotion works? Thanks. I'd like to clear it up before trying it out later tonight!

    Yes Miabee, the order matters!!!!! Either way you'll pay the tax though So if they enter the FPC's after they scan each item it will bring down your subtotal before taxes so that at the end the system won't recognize that you actually did spend the $50 before taxes. But if they scan all your items first your subtotal is recorded and THEN the coupons are removed and the system recognizes the $50 spent before taxes and you get your AM's. Hope that explains it I have learned this lesson the hard way in the past and I will never forget it

    As long as your total is 50 bucks, and the scan your AM card, it doesn't matter when they do after that. I love doing this when they have their instore coupon books as well.

    Sorry about your bad experience. My Rexall has always been great but I once shopped at another location and it was truly terrible, I had a very similar experience.

    I did not realize the order truly mattered and I have never asked the cashier to scan coupons at the end. I always ask their preference and just go with it. I never had an order that was all FPC though.

    Yup ..Rexall is often horrible when it comes to coupons ..SDM is much better .

    What difference does it make to her if she just enters the coupons the way you want her to as long as the coupons are legit & no abuse is taking place ..they get all thier money back anyways from the manufacturer for the coupons used & you also get your Air Miles ..its a win win situation for both of you .

    Don't know why they have to be so rude about it & make it so complicated

    Didn't know that the order mattered ..good to know that .

    That's a really stupid system if that's the case .

    Imagine 2 customers with identical coupons go in & one gets a bad deal & the other one gets a good deal from bonus points & air miles point of view...just bcoz of how the cpns were eneterd into the system .

    I am so sorry that this happened to you, and for her using the lords name in vein you are right it is uncalled for no matter anyone's religion she might as well then said F***, Oh and terrible management wow, where do people get their customer service skills jeez. I am glad you are feeling better now though and I hope that you get a positive response from HO

    Yeesh... Nothing like taking about their anger on the customer for their own ineptitude. Makes you appreciate the great cashiers who treat their job as a profession and have some pride in doing the job right and leaving a good impression.

    I had this coupon and yes, it is only for $3.89. Hope you get an apology or something good from HO for their rude behavior

    Sorry you had such a hard time!

    My Rexall is pretty ok, there is actually one cashier I gave the smart canucks website to cause she always saw me leaving with free stuff, but there is one cashier that just won't let me get anything for free, I told her you just adjust the price of the coupon to match the price of the item and she refuses, I'd say call over a manager but I'm pretty sure she is the manager! Cause she's usually the one the other cashiers call over when they have trouble.. so I just wait till the nice cashier is around XD

    I sometimes love Rexall, and sometimes just hate it to the guts. Sometimes they let me use coupons on discounted item, and sometimes they say that I can't use coupons on them. They are so inconsistent which pisses me off.

    Revenue Canada says that you do not have to pay tax on FPCs. Period.
