Wondering if one of the smart people reading this forum can help me out.
I registered my spouse years many years ago as designated beneficiary for my RRSPs when I die.

But when I log into my account, I cannot retrieve this information.
It looks like I have to fill out forms again to re-designate him?????

After logging into my own account, I should be able to see who I have designated as beneficiary(s) shouldn't I?

But even logged into my own account I get this message from Tangerine Bank of Canada:

"We've made changes to the way we accept beneficiary designations. Your beneficiaries have been designated on each of your RSP Account(s). In order to view your beneficiaries online, please designate your beneficiaries on your RSP Plan by completing this form."

I have heard rumours that Tangerine Bank is trying to avoid paying out to beneficiaries by making it very difficult to see who is designated...

But I can't even be sure now if he is still listed!

I still get paper correspondence mailed to me from Tangerine, and he used to be listed as beneficiary, but there is no longer any mention of beneficiary at all. So if I can't see my beneficiary on-line, and I can't see my beneficiary in sent paper mail correspondence to my own address, then how can I see the beneficiary I have designated?

Tangerine makes it look like I have to fill out new forms.

Is this just Tangerine Bank or are all Banks in Canada operating this way now?

Am curious about this too-did Tangerine happen to send you a T5 slip this year for the RSP account for interest income? Was there any name showing on the slip as a beneficiary?

I don't bank online (yet) nor have any accounts with beneficiaries (got to work on that) so thought about the information slip.

They had a glitch in the system and some data was lost. I also received some similar email and message from them when I logged in, that they need my address or some personal info again.

First I thought it was a fraud email, so I didn't respond. Maybe the same thing happened in your case.

They said they did a system upgrade and it wiped away some of the data from some clients.

Call them and ask who the beneficiary is and where you can find the info. Also ask them to mail you a letter stating the same. Tell them you need it for tax purposes or a will or something like that. And they will do it.
