Also the latest OS, Antivirus or any other security software. Also keep a Backup of all your files on external drive or Cloud drives like dropbox.

It continues to hit companies. Hopefully people learn from this and make sure that every security feature they have is the latest whether it is antivirus, OS, A patch given by microsoft or a vpn.
