Expired on: Fri, Jul 7th, 2017I am looking at taking advantage of the senior discount today.. 20% off and am wondering if I could use the discount and then do a redemption for the balance?
Braun Razor: $250 - 20%= 200 +13%= $226 - $170 redemption= $56 out of pocket
Would this work?

I wouldn't see why not, I read the fine print of the Senior's day offer and it doesn't say anything about not being able to get the discount and then redeem Optimum points. In addition, I'm not sure If you'd be eligible for the 8,000 bonus Optimum points, as I do not know what it would be calculated on for spend $50 get 8,000, on the pre discount price?, post discount?, pre redeem?, post redeem? before taxes?
Hope this helps you

Braun Razor must be regular price for 20% seniors discount to qualify. Your calcs are how I would calc as well.
If you can bump your qualifying purchase amount to $50, you get the 8,000 points. Qualifying purchase amount takes into account these:
+ regular priced items less 20% off regular
+ sale items (no senior discount)
- Shoppers Optimum dollar off coupons in personal offers
- Shoppers in-store dollar off peelie coupons
- Use a bonus gift card to pay (this always reduces qualifying purchase amount)
- Redeem to pay (reduces qualifying purchase amount)
n/a before taxes
n/a before coupon
= $50+ purchase amount gets 8000 bonus
Combine with weekly personal transaction offer to increase your points on the purchase amount.

The senior's discount is not triggered by the birth date on the Optimum card. It's triggered by the cashier regardless what birth date is on the Optimum card. The cashier/store have their own store policy to decide when to trigger the senior's discount. Some go by face value & some need to see the Senior ID card.
So, because it's manually triggered, I always use an optimum card which has the best transaction coupon (ie: 20x or 8k on $30 if you limit your qualifying spend to $30). Most times, the Optimum card with the Senior's birth date on the account does not receive good transaction coupons, so use another's Optimum card. Points can be easily transferred as needed.

@rockco , thanks for pointing that out - I didn't realize it! From now on, I will be sure to use the better card/offer for the senior discount.
