Am I missing something, or is Walmart no longer offering overages on coupons/vouchers/bogos/fpc's that have a "max value" or "up to a max value of $" amount?

Last time I was at my Walmart in West Kelowna, BC the cashier and cashier manager told me that they will honour an overage ONLY if the coupon has a specific amount on it (e.g. a product is $1.79 and I have a $2.00 coupon, they will punch it in as a $2.00 coupon), however if it's an FPC/BOGO that specifies a max value, they will only give you the amount of the product off (e.g. a product is $4.00 and max value of the FPC is up to $5.99 the cashier only takes $4.00 off your bill.

Does each Walmart have their own rules?

    Thanks for reading,
    Jo

as far as I know, from what I've been told the few times that I've actually tried to use coupons in there, the FPCs are just for the value of the product and possibly the taxes on it, but coupons that are for a higher value than the item you're buying, will give you an overage.

I think this rule applies to all WM's now.

It's always been this way, stores that were appling full value of FPC were actually not following the policy. Since on FPC stores have to show proof of purchase in order to redem, they were actually loosing money on them since they had paid less then the value of the FPC they gave out.

The following represents guidelines shared with our stores to facilitate coupon handling.
    • coupon is accepted only if store carries the item
    • must be presented at the time of purchase
    • only Canadian coupons are accepted
    • the item purchased must match the item presented on the coupon. (identical in size, quantity, brand, style, flavour, color and /
or any other specs used to identify the product on the coupon)
    • Expiration date must be present & be redeemed prior to the expiration
    • Print-at-home internet coupons:
    o must be legible
o must have “Manufacturer Coupon” printed on them
o have have a valid name & Canadian remit address
o must have a valid expiration date
o must have a scannable bar code
o can be buy one, get one free (BOGO) coupons
o are acceptable in black, white or color
    • Manufacturer’s coupons
    o dollar/cents off
    o free items
o buy one get one free (BOGO)
    o has “Manufacturer Coupon” printed
    o must have valid name
o must have valid expiration date
o must have a scannable bar code
    • Competitors coupons qualify if:
o issued by a Canadian competitor
    o for a specific item for a specified price i.e. $2.99
o buy one, get one free (BOGO) coupons for items with a specified price
o they have a valid expiration date
o and are acceptable in black, white or color
    # of coupons that can be used for each item
    • only one acceptable coupon may be presented for each purchased item within a transaction
    • store managers reserve the right to limit quantities where multiple coupons are being used for multiple purchases of the same
    item
When coupon value exceeds the price of the item:
    • the excess amount can be given as cash or can be applied toward the basket purchase , at the customer’s choice
Free merchandise with a coupon (BOGO)
    • no sales tax is applied on the free merchandise

For the record: I think most people, including Wal-Mart employees, don't even know the coupon policies.

There should be no overages on FPC's or B1G1 - max value is a max value not the coupon worth - coupon is on valid for the amount of the product purchase price not the max value of the coupon, always been that way here

    Examples -

FPC Stouffers (max value $8.99) product rings in as $5.99 - you get $5.99 taken off your bill

$4 Covergirl coupon - product rings in at $3.97 - you get the full value of the coupon taken off your bill

It's always been that way for me.
They need to be able to show the receipts if asked to ( to prove sufficient stock was redeemed...so they don't claim 30 coupons were used but only 20 were actually redeemed by customers)
If the coupon is for a free product you get that product for free... You don't also get free $ to take it out of the store just because you may be buying it in sale.
But yes if you are buying something for 2.99 and your coupon is 3.00 off then you get that 1¢ because that's the terms of the coupon. You save 3$ not the amount that they set.
This is all my opinion I could be wrong but reading the coupons that's how I'm taking it

it's always been that way where i am at, the UP TO value is an up to value it doesn't mean the coupon holds that value.. a coupon could easily say something like free 2L pepsi max value up to $300 no pepsi product has a value of $300 but the max value is there to put a cap on the coupon (or else the sky is the limit) for stores that sell their products at a higher price then other stores (like comparing Safeway to walmart)

same can go for the flip side.. if you buy a product and the FPC max value is less then the cost of the product itself you have to pay the difference.. for example i had a FPC for pull ups.. max value listed was 15.99 BUT i grabbed the large bag and it was onsale for 19.99 i had to pay that difference even though my coupon was a free product coupon
When life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....

I'm sorry but how would anyone misunderstand what that means?
It only says "up to a max value" because some grocery stores cost more & they don't want people going to 7-11 & having to reimburse them twice as much. It's a coupons for a free product, that should be good enough, you shouldn;t need to get a free product and make money
I am currently looking for coupons for non parishable foods or grocery coupons good until December to help with Christmas food helpers.
If you have any to trade please PM me.
