They have already paid out $ 22 Billion so far! And the first 2 periods - 8 weeks are barely over. People still applying for the first 2 periods - 8 weeks retroactively.

And they had budgeted $24 Billion for the entire 4 periods - 16 weeks for CERB payments.

Looks like in just half that period, entire government budgeted amount for CERB will be used up.

Trudeau will have to release more money now.

Yes it's not still showing in CRA but it will show up in My Account by May.

The special April 9 - HST payment only started showing up under My Account about 10 days before that.

I am guessing this should be the same - about 10-15 days before the due date it will start showing up in Benefits and Credits on CRA- My Account.

Third CERB payment period starting in a couple of days. Apply if you are still eligible and qualify. I am guessing most are - as very few people have returned back to work or have wage subsidies from their employers.

I think they should just go into their account and apply-they can also earn up to 1,000 per month without losing any of the benefit.

They will have to apply through CRA - My Account for CESB. A phone application will also be there if they don't have a CRA - My Account. Press 1 , Press 2 - Toll Free number, enter your SIN, DOB type of simple 1-2 minutes phone application.

But I don't think the application is open yet. But by next week it should open. Even if it delays a bit, all the payments should be retroactive to May 1, so the students won't really lose much.

Very good information on CESB here :

Not really. No one is hiring right now, especially for students. Besides high risk grocery store jobs, warehouse Amazon type jobs, not much is available for students.

But if they want extra income they can work there and collect both a salary and CESB. I think they can earn up to $ 1,000/month without affecting their CESB.

Honestly if they can volunteer a bit without risking their health that would help the community and definitely strengthen their case for CESB. Not required, but will make their case very strong if some inquiries are made in future about their eligibility for CESB or CERB.

Could be as less as 4 hrs/week. Lot of volunteering opportunities available. I know some kid who delivers groceries for seniors.
