Used magicnumber with telus one number for over a year. Fantastic. Call quality? NEVER a problem. If there is a problem in some areas, I'd be much more inclined to guess it's your cell phone service provider. Suggestion that one leave a message requesting a call to magic number is okay, but with Telus One-Number are included free are call display and three message capacity mailbox. If caller's number displays one can call back free via magic number if you want that caller to have it. I give mine to few so I don't call anyone I think could be a pest from my MNumber. When a call comes in on Magic Number, only magic number is displayed and I know it's wrong number or someone I do want to hear from. Also, good to know, you CAN call your magic number from your cell, dial the cell number and retreive any messages. NO extra charges. I usually use american magic jack from any computer to call and to make free US and Canadian calls also. Number is american so anyone calling from US with national calling can call me free or I can call them back. I transfer that number to my CELL, not magic number, and it will display on my phone so I know who it is and to return I use magic Jack--fantastic and I've had it nearly 3 years and used from other countries with notebook and free internet connections. AMAZING for about a buck a month. Magic number can be used on a home phone also for free canadian (most cities) calling. I use cell and magic number if more convenient than MJ to call US/International and it's CHEAP!! For me only thing about magic number is 15 is a lot for me monthly. For all my phones, I don't use them much but think it's nice not to be concerned about surprise charges. Call quality on both is fantastic. On MJ everywhere in the world I've tried. DigitalVoice did offer digital home phone. I came across this looking for that. Can't get comfortable with talkit. Anyone know more about it? Seems very fishy to me.

    1) I went to Future shop to get my prepaid phone–Telus LG Keybo.

This phone cost me CAD$79.99 but includes a $20 calling credit. I don’t want to pay any activating fee to TELUS outlets, so I brought the phone back home and activated it online.

2). I registered a TELUS account and got my cell phone activated on-line at TELUS website www.telusmobility.com (http://www.telusmobility.com/en/BC/y...nt/index.shtml)

3)After logging in to my account, I selected the e.Care Tab > under features column > clicked add/change features. Then I added one number unlimited.
I checked the "auto renew upon expiration"

4). From now on TELUS will deduct $7.75 per 30 days from my prepaid account. (The One Number Unlimited for $7 and the 911 service for $0.75) and I could talk to ONE number for unlimited minutes without extra charge.

    5) Then I signed up for Magic Number Service at www.magicnumber.ca and got my personal ”Magic Number” for $6.95.

6). I Logged in to my TELUS account and went to e-care again. I registered my “Magic Number” as my ONE free number with TELUS

Now I have unlimited incoming and outgoing cell phone service for only $14.7 per month (7.75+6.95). I dial the magic number, then my friends number to dial out. Anyone who dials my magic number gets to my cell. It's the only number my cell phone needs. So I never pay the 25c a minute charge as I only call the one unlimited number and telus just takes $7.75 a month off the credit I store in my prepaid account.

BTW. Magic Number requires me to do a two stages dialing in order to make free outgoing calls. I still like to dial out directly through my contact list or speed dial.

After playing with my LG Keybo phone, I managed to set speed dial numbers for all my contacts.

I stored the the phone number for each contact as follows:

    John Doe
    9051234567T9057654321#

    Jane Doe
    9051234567T9059876543#

That is: 9051234567(my magic number) “T” (wait key)9057654321(my friend's number) then # to dial out from my magic number

T -> is the Wait function. Most phones have this function. It can be found in the options menu when creating a new contact on LG and Samsung phones. If you don’t have Wait function, I have heard people people say they can use several P (pause) instead of T. Anyway, you need to try it by yourself.

Are there any catches to this? Yes, there are one or two. First, you don't get caller ID as everyone calls through your magic number. Second, texting can't go through your magic number so you'd need to get the $3 texting package in addition to the $7.75 one number unlimited from Telus if you do much texting, and your friends would have to keep two numbers in their contact list; your cell phone number for texting and your magic number for voice.

Even so, it's worth it as it is half the price of any comparable package and if you have to pay for cell phones for a whole family, this saves hundreds of dollars a month.

    Cheers.<o:p></o:p>
    Hi wildcat007,

Your post was very informative. Based on your post and the feedback of other on the forum, I also bought LGKEYBO2 with Telus Prepaid acct. Activation was done online as per your suggestion. Added the One Number Unlimited feature. Signed up with Magic Number. Added the contacts as per your instructions. Set up speed dial for each contact as well.

However, if I try to dial the contacts either directly or via speed dial, I get a prompt saying "you have just dialed a # to which long distance chgs will apply. To complete your call please dial 1 or 0 and the area code".

But if I dial my magic #, wait for the prompt and then dial the destination # followed by #, it works.

Please advise what should I do to use your way of making calls.

    Thank you.

    reachash:

    1. Dial your Magic Number, then
    2. Dial the number you wish to call and then press #

Your call should go through. Are you in one of the cities Magic Number services?

I have all my cell phone contacts programmed in as wildcat suggests....works great.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your suggestion.

It does work for me but not with "T"....but with "P". I don't are how it works. As long as it works, I am OK.

However I am not able to retrieve my voice mails the way suggested on the thread. I first dial my magic number and then my telus number....it does not take me to my telus voice messaging ctr.....it rings my phone as if I am gettng an incoming call and goes to voice mail...to let me leave a voice mail to myself....

    Any suggestion?

    Thank you again in advance.

    reachash

Yes, you are only one " * " Key away from your voice mail:
    .....
Dio it again and as soon as you hear the system request you to leave voice mail -->
" Hit the * key", and the system will need you key in your security code.
( if you haven't change your security code before, your code will be the last 4 digits of your Telus number)

Follow the VM ........hope this helps

Thank you very much for this information!
I am wondering though if there is also a cheaper way for unlimited texting aside from calls?
    Thanks for any replies!

This is extremely interesting information and I am very excited to hear it. One question I do have though is how this relates to long distance. Is the magic number fixed to a certain location, like a local access number is?

For example, I live in London Ontario, however I spend a significant amount of time in Norfolk Ontario, about an hour away. I had intended to get the Telus One Number and use it with Bud Phone to get free outgoing calls and .20 incoming calls. Unfortunately, the Bud Phone number for London is long distance from Norfolk, meaning I would only get the free outgoing calls while I am in London.

So I would like to know if the magic number I would get would be local in both London and Norfolk. Norfolk is more often associated with Brantford then London, so I am worried that the magic number for the Norfolk area would be local to Brantford and long distance to London, making it impractical for my situation.

I hope I was clear about my concern and I would really appreciate it if somebody knew the answer to my question. I suspect it will be the same problem I am encountering with the Bud Phone access number though. It just seems too good to be true for this to work perfectly.

Not sure. Send your question to MagicNumber to answer. I am in Halifax, but when I am in Vancouver, I make calls and there are no long distance charges. Same applies when I am in Ottawa and Toronto. Maybe because my MagicNumber is in Halifax....one of the cities with unlimited long distance.

I have been using MagicNumber for a few months now, and I find that the quality of the calls could be better. Although there are times when its fine, you can hear the difference most of the time.

Using with Android (w/predialer) on Telus HSPA prepaid.

Contact AllDayTalk's customer support.....maybe they can help. I have never had problems with my call quality. I use the LG Optimus One (prepaid) and as long as I have bars on my phone, I have good call quality.

    I have the same phone.

The two main issues are poor call quality (when calls to/from rural towns) and echo.

Customer service does not reply to emails (via their on-line form).

There must be something about how Ottawa is connected with the suburbs, as some VoIP services also have bad voice quality. In-town calls are top notch.

Login to "Your Portal" on their website at https://secure.tieus.com/engalldaytalk/Login/login.asp

Under "Trouble Shooting and Report Problem" click on "Problem Report." They have four choices:

What is the problem you experienced?
    1. Unable to make any outbound calls, cannot get online :

    2. Can get online, but can not make any outbound call:
    3. I can only hear one-way audio:
    4. My phone quality is not so clear:

As a test, I am going to select Option 4 and see how long it takes them to respond. In the past I have only contacted them twice, and both times they replied within an hour.

---- Just submitted an inquiry and their website says:

    Online Problem Report

Your problem report has been submit,
we will contact you as soon as possible.
Thank you for using our service!

If your website online from TELUS to TELUS mobile phone, you can get the back of the $ 50 phone card, which is more than future shop $ 20 back deal.

    Option 1
Everything together is 18.87 (taxes included at 13%). That is Magic No + Telus one no unlimited (911 fee included). Annual it comes to 226.44$.

    Option 2

Now chatr (I am with them) or windmobile etc provide prepaid unlimited income and local outgoing voice plans (and data too but more expensive) for 25$. That's 28.25$ tax included at 13% (annually it's 339$). With chatr the local network around GTA includes about 9 cities or more (I think same with wind).

The difference between those two is that you save with option 1 about 112.56 per year compared to option 2.

With that in mind and if one lives around GTA would you go with option 1 or option 2?
