thanks Stac!
I didn't even notice the "family pack" label...truly not the usual family pack size. Glad you remembered about the HBC bonus coupon and I hope you find some good deals and blue stickers soon too. FYI, I started a thread in the deals section "Zellers: Countdown to Closing". You may wish to check out the list of liquidation stores (in post #1) to see if there's one in your area. It'll definitely be a hand-over-fist-I-saw-it-first deals-palooza!

Feb 17 update: Hello Seasons!
Was in Brampton on Friday and went to Seasons (another store that's similar to Oceans). Saw they had chicken leg quarters on sale for $0.99/lb and shrimp and that's exactly what I needed!
5 1/2 lbs of chicken = $5.65
3x Shrimp packages = $5
And my $OOP is a big fat $0 as I used money from the sale of my old cell phone! Sweet!
I'm so excited! I finished my final shop for the week and going to those independent/smaller grocery stores paid off big time! I have enough meat, veggies, fruit and such to last us all week and maybe into the next. If I need anything else, I plan to use up a few FPCs and my $10 PC Gift card from the Stouffers Promotion.
I need some brown rice and noticed in the Bulk Barn flyer there's a $3 wus $10 coupon...paired with my $5 Bulk Barn GC from the valentine's promotion, my brown rice (and perhaps some extras) will cost me $2 and taxes! February has been an awesome savings month indeed!
I tallied up my $OOP for February so far and it is just over $60. Barring anything major in the next week and a half, I should finish the month under $70 OOP!Last edited by $avvy$hopper; Sat, Feb 25th, 2012 at 12:24 AM.

Thanks 2010ontest! My last shop at Bulk Barn was for treats for a candy buffet and my old workplace...I did the buffet for in the past and I visit them once in a while so it was fun to do it again as a surprise.
I went out tonight for a quick FREE SPREE:
@Metro:
1x Source Yogourt - free with FPC
1x Snac Pack pudding - free with FPC
forgot to check for the Allen's apple juice with $5 in Oasis coupons so will have to swing by again later in the week.
@RCSS
2x bread - 50% pink stickers
1x fries
1x ice cream
bananas
Free with $10 President's Choice GC from Stouffers promo.
All I need is the brown rice and eggs and that'll be it for the month. I'm hopeful there will be a bonus redemption at SDM in March sometime.

On my way to a dinner date I stopped at Bulk Barn for a few items and then stopped at Sobeys and Walmart on my way back home.

Bulk Barn
Brown Rice - $3.30
Brown/Wild Rice Mix - $2.94
White Chocolate Chips $1.27
Corn chips $0.28
Cashews $2.59
Total $10.38
Less $3 coupon (wus $10) and $5 GC from valentines promo
$OOP= $2.38
Sobeys
Ginger Ale $1.59
2x Activia Yogurt $2.99 - 2x $2 coupons
Total $3.78
Walmart
2x Eggs $2.64 - $1 coupon
1x Rice Krispie Squares $2 - $2 coupon
Total $4.28
With these items, I can call it a month...we have enough food for meals and snacks through to the end of February...wow that month went fast! Next shop is for March groceries and it seems Shoppers Drug Mart will have a bonus redemption that month too! Yay!
I have a question for those who use brown rice. I'm new to using it - bought instant brown rice in the past and turned regular brown rice into pudding LOL! Anywho, I wanted to try out the two kinds I got a bulk barn but wonder if that's a good price in general. I measured it when I got home and have basically paid just over $6 for 5 cups of rice. It sounds expensive...but perhaps that's normal? I only know the prices of white/jasmine rice in the large bags being $7.99 and sometimes less so the comparison might not be fair.
Please school me in the best price for brown rice, it's a change we need to make for the better and getting the best bang for out buck is essential. Thanks in advance for your help here!Last edited by $avvy$hopper; Wed, Mar 7th, 2012 at 04:14 PM.

I wasn't planning to buy anything today but I stumbled upon a blue sticker special at Zellers I couldn't pass up!
4x Oasis Nutrisource juice @ $2 each !!!! *thank you blue stickers...and these don't expire til March 23!!! The only thing that could have made this deal sweeter would be to have those coupons from the Allens cans. Sadly I can't find them anywhere!
1x Ditaliano Bread @ $1.99
Total Bill: $10 and change
Less $10 GC from points redemption
$OOP: about $1.50 (sorry don't have receipt with me right now but that's approx cost)
Oh and if anyone can help me with my brown rice question, I'd appreciate. I believe it's in the post above this one. Thanks in advance!!!!Last edited by $avvy$hopper; Wed, Mar 7th, 2012 at 04:15 PM.

That sounds more like it! I don't have Costco membership but I know someone who does. Might need to tag-a-long on her next shopping trip.
Since I can't get to Costco right away, I welcome more suggestions on where to get brown rice for a good price. Thanks in advance!
Thanks wendyjane!

Hey guys, finally got around to doing up February's totals and I'm an one excited Smart Canuck! Post #1 has the full details but we basically ended up with an $OOP = to $17 per week on groceries! YAAAAYYYY!!!
March is off to a great start and I'm looking forward to bonus redemption at SDM this weekend.
On a side note, I tried tuna curry for the first time. The recipe was provided on the Cloverleaf site and was also attached to a coupon. I wasn't sold on it at first but yesterday was a bit busy and I wanted a new dish to pair with our leftovers. I made some modifications based on other's comments:
1tsp butter/margarine (can also use extra virgin olive oil)
1/4 cup diced onion
1/4 cup diced green peppers
1 handful of grape tomatoes, sliced (or other tomatoes)
1 can of tuna (spicy thai chili is recommended on CL site but I used regular flaked tuna)
1/4 sour cream
1/4 mayonnaise
2 tblsp curry powder
black pepper and cayenne/chili pepper to taste
Sautee onions and peppers in butter, add tomatoes and tuna and stir for about a minute to break down the tuna.
Add rest of ingredients and simmer 2-3 mins til all is warmed through.
Can I just say...YUMMO!!! Seriously had no idea it'd taste so good- hubby loved it too. Great to serve with rice, naan/roti, in a sandwich or with salad.
Anywho, hope your grocerys shops are going well and that great deals continue to be in your path!
