Random blurbing: I was at Walmart yesterday, (bought warm socks!), and ....it was ALL self checkout! All cashier checkouts were closed, and only self checkouts were open, with a helper to push any override buttons. ??? Is this new??? Or, is it just that I haven't been out in ages?!? Meh. Self checkouts are okay, sometimes....but, I'd hate to have a whole buggy full and have to check out with such limited space to work with.

I hope that is not the trend chain-wide. Remember that WM will stop offering bags by April 23 this year.

My issues with self-checkout-cane won't stay put against a hard surface without some kind of gripping tape or leather thingee (working on it as $20+ for a roll of bike grip tape is too pricey for me) and so called updated card terminals-thought the checkouts were to accept cash but they are card only machines) but our store has a teeny cash desk in that zone. Local store might have 3 cashier lanes open during day but even after 6pm, lucky to find 2 tills open or even just 1.
