    Does anyone know a short cut for sourdough starter - or someplace I can get a starter (Haldimand County or west Burlington)?

    The only shortcut I know of is to get a bit of someone else's starter. Once you have an established starter, you can freeze a bit in case you have to start a new one.

    sorry i don't live close to you. my starter is a few years old now and well established.

    another way you can get one going is to use commercial yeast for the first rise.
