When I was out in Big Box land yesterday (had an ordered item to collect), I went to Sobeys to look for coupons and I found 5 (there may be more-at least one repeat in the dairy coolers area). Also popped into Staples to look at Back To School stuff, pens and clearance items (where I saw a stack of Gry Matter blush pink paper desk sets (containing 3 pads-one for lists, a spiral 2022 calendar and a larger note pad) for $4.97 (there was one grey set I assume is also on clearance). Still no Elmer Craft Square adhesive rolls on the Craft supply pegs...
Noticed all the construction going on around Best Buy and over to Carters Osh Kosh (I looked at some summer clearance items on the rack by the door)-looks like all the store signage on buildings is getting replaced or updated-and on the public sidewalk (some digging was going on).
BTW Sobeys has two McCain Mini cake cups flavours in the frozen pie shell area at $8.49 each and those cakes are teeny. Chocolate brownie or cookie crumble options. If you are able to get coupons through Angela273's link, you score. I could not get the coupons to print yesterday and my Save account indicated they had printed...so YMMV at public access computers! I noticed no coupons in the Pepsi product stack at the back of the store where the Buy 3 Pepsico products and get 1 Pepsi bevvie free sign was located. THere actually are about 20 packages of Compliments printed napkins-some in the napkins area but mostly they are on the two endcaps near the shelf on plastic clip straps. Wish I had funds to stock up on napkins but I will try my luck in August (I do need everyday napkins as I have 3ply dinner ones in use for the time being with no other napkins on hand). Sigh-Sobeys had 20% off their Compliments napkins about two flyers ago (darn).
Today I have 5 DVD items to take home and enjoy over the weekend. Roku put the Fifa+ channel on the tv yesterday (I was channel surfing and notice that channel and about 4 others were added (so I blocked the other 4 to minimize how many channels we have to click through to find something-I really want number pads back on streaming channel remote controls), so Bro & I watched some highlights of the 2010 Men's World Cup in South Africa.
There are still some black mulberries on the mature trees (some very large berries) but the garden tree (still young) only had about 3 mulberries left. It's week 3 of the fruit so I pick some off and eaton the spot, though I have to shake off some tiny critters first. Tip-don't wear white under those trees or have white canvas footwear on (fruit stains cotton like you cannot scrub it out)! There's a "resident" light brown bunny that keeps to our yard and hangs around the garden. I will ask Mom if she will spring for some plastic garden fencing to keep bunny from nibbling on whatever is growing in her garden.
Day has come-the Barbie movie is out at about every chain theatre! Locally, the Westdale and the Playhouse still have Asteroid City on their screens. Here's hoping next week I have $$ to go out to see Asteroid City, one of two movies I want to see in theatres (Barbie is the other one).
I was naughty and didn't bring lunch to work. Just popped home and made a grilled cheese and washed some fresh strawberries. Ate it in the car on the way back to the office. I grabbed a hummus and cracker snack pack for this afternoon. Did the trick!
Watched the girls this morning at 7.30 til 11.30,so son could sleep after nights .I am exhaused thou ,just chilling rest of today .
My cookbook hold came in: Dad in the Kitchen by Cory Vitiello and Chris Johns. First person is a chef and the other person is a food writer. I could see this book paired with a grocery gift card or kitchen gear to a new father for expanding his cooking repetoire (and toss in Little Critics for another kid-oriented cookbook gift suggestion).
I flipped through and see about 5 recipes I'd want to try (soup, a couple of cakes, and two more dishes). Grilled romaine for a Caesar salad? Never have I ever had that in a Caesar salad.
Chef seems to love cast-iron pans. There's one at home in dire need of TLC before it can be put to use for some of the cooking.
BTW, Longos has a 3pk of romaine lettuce for $3.99 if anyone is looking for that ingredient...
FIFA Women's World Cup fans in Burlington-there's a mall viewing area for a month to watch the games! https://burlingtoncentre.ca/event/FI...ge/2145566498/
It is useful to sign up for mall newsletters to learn of such events at the malls!
Good Evening Everyone,
Was in the plant today covering and it was surprisingly busy so did not get much of my own work done.
On the way home I ran into Wal-Mart to grab Mushrooms and Mom needed Rollaids and Halls so I grabbed those well I was there. I was going to get Mangos but they were not on sale, they said the flyer on Rebee is not the Ontario flyer, oh well, I will try somewhere else next week as there are still a few other things I want to grab.
I did consider running to Food Basics but it was super busy on the roads, the joys of living in cottage country. So I decided to just come home plus I needed to get to the Post Office before they closed to pick up a package.
Well, we were making dinner it go super dark here and looked like a storm was blowing in but we got a little bit of rain and it seem to just blow over. I was a little worried about getting dinner done before the rain, I am not sure what is up lately (the last couple of months) anytime we get a hard downpour we lose power, although last night we did not lose power so hopefully the issue has been fixed.
Need to plan my to-do list for the weekend even though I would love to do nothing but that is not very realistic.
Happy Friday Everyone
@Frugalbigmama based on todays gas purchase I would say no to extra points. I suspect this will make sense for the 1st yr of the house in Nova Scotia as there is so much to buy but for normal use I doubt it. But who knows, once I move out permanently I will be 2 hours to the closest Costco so maybe I will spend more at CT.
Good Morning Everyone,
Happy Saturday, I slept in this morning, it was totally needed, I was so exhausted last night when I went to bed, all I wanted was a good night's sleep which did not happen. One of my neighbours has a new car that is all suped up and is very loud and they were out there revving the engine and just driving up and down the road at 1 am. Pretty sure they had a bunch of friends over and it became a thing that woke me up.
I have a bunch of stuff I need to get done but honestly, I am not feeling it. So nothing is happening until after I finish my cup of tea, maybe it will bring me ambition but I am not counting on it.
But with that being said I do have some personal computer stuff I need to catch up on. So I might tackle that today. This month has been a bit of a struggle and I have fallen behind a bit but hoping to get it all caught up this weekend.
I also have to finish my performance evaluation for work. I hate doing the personal evaluation, I am my own worst critic and tend to lean toward the negative and usually end up listing all the things I did not get done vs what I did get done. Does not help that it is our 2022 evaluation and I spent 6 months in the plant helping as we were short staff so most of my job did not get done. Plus right when I finished in production I had my accident and kind of went into hibernation so yeah, last year was not my best year. Thinking I just need to get this done and not think about it anymore because the longer I hold off the worse it gets.
Happy Saturday Everyone
Don’t you just love obnoxious neighbours like that @SassyAshley . Sadly we have many like that in our are plus the wonderful (said very sarcastically) teens that carry on outside at all hours of the night because they don’t have school or jobs to go to like the rest of us. I feel your pain.
Morning all.
Just did a quick shop at SOF after scouring the flyers. Everything was cheaper than PMing a few things that I was ready to do. The only thing is that I didn’t get any onions because they looked dreadful. I’m not sure what’s up with onions or the ones at SOF but they are horrible .
Transaction #1 spent $112.11 saved $24.26 earned 109 regular points and 1900 from my offers. Claimed a whopping 25C on CO51:rolleyes:
Transaction #2 paid 53C for celery and claimed 25C on CO51 :lolsign:
Not bad but still sad how much less you get now. Just waiting for a smokin deal on pasta like Safeway had a while ago at 88C so I can stock up. Also on the lookout for canned bean at a max of $1 per can.
I have a big shop at Costco planned but it’s all for work so at least it’s a deduction :top:.
Now spending the rest of the day doing some laundry, changing the bedding, and cleaning the bathroom. Such a glamorous life :smartass:
Good day everyone!..July has been a crazy month..dragged into the wireless world by DD so no more landline! Internet messed up still not yet resolved, got the new oil furnace installed and the cat has been sick. One after another for someone who can be resistant to change.
Would like to chat longer but being beckoned.
Enjoy your weekend my friends!
I always preferred Telus with their landline, because it has its own power supply, in case of electrical interruption. However, we moved to their fibre-optic system and have been out of contact a couple of times, due to system faults on their end. I was surprised to wake up only to find no dial tone. This worries me, because my aged mother may need emergency contact and there would be no way to call 911, if I was not around. I don't think there is any way to revert to the old landline, either. :(
It’s going only get better from here @Skippy :flowers:. Hope your kitty is feeling better :cat:
