A strange way to input a FPC?

I was at sobeys and had used a couple FPC's while shopping. I always tally my savings on a calendar when I get home so as I was calculating my days savings I noticed that the free items I got at sobeys don't even show up on the receipt. I noticed the cashier scanned them and then input $0.00 as the amount for each of the free items, I've never seen this done before.

Now to recall what was free at Sobey's and estimate the retail values for my tally.

I've only seen that happen once at Sobey's and it was the cashier's mistake. She didn't know how to fix it, so she just told me I could go with my purchases. I often bring FPCs to Sobeys because they give points for the value of the items.
