Morning! We have rain! And a much cooler day!
My office was so warm yesterday that I couldn't scan large jobs (the paper was too warm) but it worked this morning no problem!

Yesterday was a busy work day that went smoothly so today is a clean up day and just tackle the little things to clean off my desk.

I redeemed $80 in PC pts yesterday/Monday. $50 at one No Frills- cheese, sandwich meat, romaine/bananas etc and then $30 at different No Frills for 2 x TP, something else I can't think of and 4 cans of soup to hit just over $30. The 1st No Frills had 0 of the TP on sale but the 2nd one had skids full.

Hitting GT today for eggs and to look at the comfy pants I saw in the flyer that look awesome (to put on during day when working) and to look at the socks on sale for the boys for Christmas. I need to start picking up some of the staples for their Christmas bag. Youngest needs tube socks for work and they both like the ankle socks for everyday wear. Oldest is picky on colour. The clearance rack had the tube socks on it so I should look at them again and compare the brand/price.

Tacos were a hit yesterday. I made a small taco salad after 7pm last night but wasn't feeling it. Guess just wasn't hungry for anything but I tried. Just being out in the heat for a bit yesterday did me in.

Rainy day here,so just popped over to dollarama as i needed a large baby bag (sons friend is having their first end of july.) then a bunch of other stuff came to $38.
Hair dye is only 4.25 there so decided revlon.Watkins lemon handsoap lemon 4.00 for my daughters bag as her birthday is in august.

Then popped in to sobeys

I got 2 janes chicken nuggets buy 1 get 1 free=8.00 each for sebastian when he comes anyleft over i will give to son for the girls.,salad .peaches plus a few other items on sale used 10.00 in scene points and 2.00 checout51 and 4.00 cpn on the chapmans yukon 4.49-4.00=.49 for hubby.

Then home tired as i was up at 4.30 a.m

Well it is roasting here and probably headed your way if you are in Ontario. Tomorrow we are getting a new furnace and AC installed-never had AC before but with global warning I think it will be needed more and more. Expensive week though.

@lizzie bargain , we looked into putting AC in during the pandemic, turns out for our house a little more complicated than expected (we do not have a furnace and putting a heat pump would be tricky which meant $$$$). Against many people's advice I went with a portable unit and will never look back. It does not completely cool the main floor we still need to use a fan in the kitchen but it has literally been life changing.

We have radiators so installed ductless AC units. Compressor is outside, the blower units are inside at the top of the walls. Life changing. Perfect for a century house

Morning!

Our power went off around 1:30pm yesterday came on for a few mins hours later then off again till around 6pm I think it was.
Rained all night. Sky is cloudy and grey but the sun is shining...

Did DS's laundry yesterday (he cleaned out his vehicle...golf clothes/swim trunks etc.) Hung it all up to dry so it will be ready to put away later today.
I still need to do my basket from the other day. Will aim to do it today so it can dry overnight and be ready to put away tomorrow.
Hoping it is a bathing suit wearing kind of weekend if the weather co-operates! So minimal clothing needed! We should go kayaking tonight to start the weekend! Will see if the weather is ok for that when the time comes.
I booked Monday and Tuesday off work so looking forward to a 4 day weekend. Bit of work and a bit of fun :)

When we built our house 15 years ago, my DH proposed that we go with a ground source heat pump. When he told me what the initial cost would be, I almost fainted ( worked out to about $30,000 in the end). Our Hydro One bills for running the unit are about$1,200 per year. The heat pump heats the house (cools in the summer), preheats the hot water, heats the basement floor and heats his workshop in the garage which is about 100 feet from the house. We have had one bill for repairs (this past spring) and that was to replace the condenser. I will admit it was expensive to repair due to the fact that parts had to come from the US ( canadian companies have been bought up by the US company) which no one could have predicted. Overall we are happy with the system.

Lizzie -2 years ago our airconditioner went so we decided on a new furnace and central air conditioner wasnt cheap at all .Glad we did it as our furnace was 25 years old.

I talked to our broker and we are getting a new auto and car insurance $300 cheaper than the recent one so happy about this.

Off to shoppers for milk seniors day for me .

Don't heat pumps require the homeowner to have a secondary source of back-up heating? Or, does that differ according to jurisdiction?

Well in Calgary we would have to have a furnace as well as a heat pump as they are only good to about -10-at least that is my understanding.

Yeah, that was what I remembered hearing. I am in Edmonton, so probably the same jurisdictional requirement.

My local councillor posted about his home's heat pump installation and one respondant to that Facebook post commented on the limited temperature range that the pump operates within. Someone had to get a secondary source of heat when temperatures outdoors were lower than pump's limit.

@herman you did not indicate if the courier driver might be 40+ years old. Andropause is a possibility when male hormone levels change in midlife. Other possibilites: the stress of driving in all kinds of weather, traffic conditions and trying to find parking in no parking zones might have shown up around driver's middle. Finally fatty liver disease is a concern for North American adults. Some know about it and work on reducing contributing factors.
We also don't know what kind of home life he has with spouse. Spouses snipe about one another more readily than grow together in age and wisdom/shared curiousity about aging or health. Usually when one spouse or partner deals with health or physical changes especially in 40s, the other partner or spouse may not acknowledge situation but rather mock like a mean girl or boy.:mad::boxing1:

Saturday morning was spent with friend who treated me to a chai latte and long visit. She could not stay for lunch so that was precious time.

Former telco did this by mail today:sent a last bill of one-time charges and fees equal to the refund cheque sent on prior billing letter. Effectively cancelling the refund! I will advise a friend still on telco's network of this hands in your pocket action so she won't let any such thing happen to her when it comes time to go to digital home phone.
