Thank you @lilo0003 for starting this thread
Hoping that the weather stay warm and we have lots of sunshine. I still have Hit peppers and tomatoes to get ripen.
I am hoping to get. Some good deals to put towards my Christmas donation and to also be able to find the coupons for this new cycle.
Good morning! We get to go for a nice fall drive today to my medical appointment. I'm looking forward to strategizing some savings for the Shoppers deal...I'll most likely just stock up on household staples.
Have a great day!
@harbie I buy my organic soy milk from Costco on the shelf (6 x946ml) just under $9 that I put in the fridge once I open it. Have you tried it? Is the soy milk you buy in the fridge section better? I find the soy milk really helps as I'm lactose intolerant and the cost of LT milk is expensive.
@barbis9 we normally buy ours at Costco too but it’s the 1.89l size 3 ok for $9 something but with the sale at NF and the coupon it was only 99c ea which was a smokin deal. I like the shelf stable ones for emergency preparedness kits and once cooled it tastes the same.
Morning came home to check on mail, put my compost bag out of the kitchen into neighbours for friday pick up.
Wow watching 2 small girls is such a fun outing for us.Except my sleep is off son lives on a corner of a busy street ,so cars racing down at night wake me sometimes.I am cleaning sons /daughter-in-laws home ,going thru the girls clothing (she said i could my daughter-in-law) pulling all the size 8 from Ashlyn closet and getting rid of the smaller size 6's from cara .
Ashlyn gave me some loose lego as my daughter-in-law hates it .So i will add that to my house collection .The girls had McDonalds last night ,then we took them to Spirit Halloween"store Ashlyn picked out a creepy baby doll for her birthday this weekend from nana and papa she will be 11.Of course the little one cara wanted a small toy so she got a 3 headed wearwolf stuffie.
Cara misses her mommy so i said i will hug you and hold you if you want when we were watching t.v .Ashlyn has an old phone so my sons said to keep it charged at all times. They called last night so the girls were excited to say hi to them .
Both are being pretty good except when i told cara you cant ride your bike holding your doll .She wasnt too pleased with me at that moment but i walked her over to her friends with her holding her doll.
Miss my house ,hubby says it smells a bit so we are here for a bit so i could check my home phone .I cleaned the kitchen out also .
Plus i wanted to come on here after checking my emails.lol
Now i need to go order cupcakes for my daughter-in-law at fortinos and pick up a bit of fruit for the girls lunches -yesterday i forgot to put the ice pack in their lunch.
Barbis -you asked back in a previous post what the bay cosmetics counter promo intails .Well you get points for empty lipstick, nailpolish ,perfume ,concealor bottles etc .They dont have to be bought at the bay either just certain sizes so they recycle them a few months ago i had enough points to get a 22.00 top for .67 cents .There is a limit to how many you can do in one sitting. How this helps.
Welcome, October! Linger awhile and keep temperatures mild. No snow, please.
Thanks @lilo0003 for new thread start!
Saw the headline on Chch Morning Live about Balzacs coffee found on the ground in Lincoln, On is not be consumed. Local community paper reports that coffee is from a truck stolen in February. So the coffee may have been compromised. https://www.niagarafallsreview.ca/ne...35f9eb30c.html
Jeep hybrid vehicle recall was another headline:https://driving.ca/auto-news/driver-...%20by%20owners
Did a morning shopping run for items at Fortinos (could not find the $4.99 General Mills Count Chocula cereal in store in breakfast aisle nor on an endcap; 4 new winter and Xmas designs for PC Dinner napkins are in-store alongside remaining stock of spring/summer designs), Dollarama ( single pops are still $1.50 in coolers plus the Mountain Dew mystery flavour was stocked), and Food Basics (saw a Dec 2023 dated almond-coconut bev tetra on shelf with the $2.99 sale Black Diamond tetras; realized the shelf tags are electronic as one tag kept going dark then flashing back to product pricing). Bought one of the food bank bags too. Noticed yogurt coupons in cereal aisle were replicated in dairy at Fortinos,
Food Basics had the same iogo coupons plus nano ones. Did see a buy one Silk and Kelloggs product coupon pad. Tetley tea is on sale for $2.99 and the warmth variety is great for variety or cold days.
This morning, the smart tv's wallpaper on the home screen changed from default red to the McDonalds Monoply Double Play themed one. Since I had downloaded the app over home wifi last night (for some reason our Internet and later the home phone were offline even though modem lights looked normal; plus my cellphone network went offline for nine minutes during this time-aggravating thoughts), I seem to think home Internet provider computers noticed. Or did everyone's smart tvs show the same wallpaper today?
Question for PC Opt users- do you have a 20x points redemption offer in your apps or accounts today? Curious if offer is for all members or YMMV. Shoppers flyer also has a national brow day promo QR code for tomorrow in-store or online shopping on brow products.
Just got back from a beautiful fall drive in the mountains to see the golden aspen and larches. I took a back road to Canmore-holy smokes was it wash boarded, There were plenty of signs warning about avalanches( a little early for that) but no warning of the big craters ahead in the road!
I was not able to take advantage of the wicked PCO offer at SDM today. While in Nova Scotia we share a vehicle and DH was out tonight. Work was far too busy to duck out today and SDM is 15 minutes away so I saved my money. Hopefully lots of deals were to be had by others.
Wishing everyone a good evening.
Still kind of pissed and frustrated for the 3 rants I posted on the rant section...LOL.
There was an episode on MythBusters regarding the theory that driving down washboard road at a certain speed could reduce the amount of vibration and bouncing within the vehicle. While they did prove that reduction was possible, I don't think the difference would have been noticeable by the vehicle occupants.
@Ciel21 what a waste of good coffee. At least it can be used in the garden if anyone picked it up.
@coupongirl I wonder if they take the small vials of perfume samples?
Had a random visit by someone with Voila.ca this afternoon at home. I was to get a small bag of free food items but I declined. Found out a free trial period of their delivery pass is attached to my account (have to verify this later). Considering my last Voila email communication was in February to update my account info...I was stumped. Then realized those times this summer I used wifi in my Sobeys store to try to access the digital flyer must have led to the impromptu visit. We talked about past online orders (pros and cons). Only after the chat was finished did I realize that I had seen the person eight years ago during marketing event.
Have a letter to finish writing for mailing tomorrow. Need to venture out in the morning. Will glance at Walmart and two more flyers right now.
Pantry surprise will be that pasta supper from two nights ago. Yesterday, I made a dinner omelet with a few different spices. Got to use those eggs.
@cath007 Canadian Tire flyer for Friday shows Keurig K-mini coffee maker for special buy at $69.99. Warm stone or black colour options. Makes 6-12 oz (maximum 1 cup and a half of coffee) and small appliance is not for tall insulated mugs or coffee cups. Could be perfect for you if you need to make a hot drink to start your day. I am intrigued by small size, but my budget is allocated to other purchases. I don't miss the bulky Keurig my brother had as it toom up too much counter space.
Have you been able to see your Canadian Tire offers through their website?
A pretty good day, overall. RCSS had a 5-pound chub of cooked chicken breast for $2.90/lb
On my way out, one of the stockboys was finishing his shift and doing his grocery shopping. He gave me one of his cherry turnovers, because I always shared my goodies with him, when I saw him. How considerate of him.
When I arrived home, I found a Skip the Dishes bag with 2x cups of Dream Tea. Must have been a mistaken order. Not a bad way to end the day. :)
Brr. I can't believe that I have already had to fire up the furnace since Oct 1, once a day.
What a way to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary…….taking the car to the mechanics . Oh well, I’m not going to let that ruin the day. It’s going to be warm and the perfect weather to pickleball so that’s what’s planned (after I eat some vegan purdys chocolate Dh surprised me with this morning)
Have a great day everyone
@harbie , Happy Anniversary to you and your DH. Enjoy the chocolates.
Good Morning Everyone,
Oh it has been another week but really should I expect any less at this point LOL.
Monday I was back in the plant, I wasn't going to stay all day because I needed to prep for Wednesday. That was the plan but then our head shipper was off so my trainee also had to run shipping so guess who stayed until 4 pm and just as I was leaving I realized it was Month-End which means the system would not be available when I got home, UGH.
Monday night on the way home I ran into No Frills to grab a few things, I got:
Lemons, Mandarins, Mini Cucumbers, Romaine. Mushrooms, Garlic, Spaghetti Squash, Orange Juice and Alfredo Sauce.
Tuesday, oh my gosh Tuesday, there was an event for our ERP system I was supposed to attend but then our production assistant and plant manager were both going to be away so I was going to work production. Then our manager was like nope my appointment is cancelled I will be here so I was going. But then we had the person off Monday, would they be back, won't they. Finally around 1 pm on Monday our manager said you know what worse comes to worse I will run the office so I was going to the event. I attended, not going to lie it was a LONG day but a good day we found some new programs we might add to our existing ERP so we shall see how that goes.
Oh my gosh, the event was well they were saying Toronto but it was outside of Toronto but if I had to commute down there everyday I would lose my mind. The traffic both there and home and was insane. I called my Mom to tell her to order dinner, I wasn't cooking it was almost 6 and I still had work to do and I was done, how people do that every day, WOW.
Yesterday I had a nre trainee it was a simple query training then I was supposed to meet with a co-worker but they were out sick so when I was done I ran over to Costco because there were quite a few sales I wanted to take advantage of. When I got there something had happened in the parking lots, one section was closed off with multiple police and ambulances, when I came out the ambulances were gone but police were still there.
I did something shocking yesterday, I got to cash I went to pay and I actually spent less than I expected. Now I had a list, I stuck to my list but when I looked at my cart all I could think was OH NO. So I was nicely surprised. I stock up on:
Broth since Soup & Stew Season is coming
Dumplings (always grab 2 bags when they are on sale)
Dawn Powerwash (I am obsessed, if anything sticks to a pan it takes it right off, oh my it is amazing)
Tea (because we are not going caffeine-free)
Blistex (multi-pack on sale)
Then we needed Olive Oil (WOW the prices of Olive Oil), Cooking Spray, Sausage, Ricotta and I believe a few other things. Anything that did not need to go in the fridge or freezer is currently living on my kitchen floor.
Today is a work from home day, I am curled up on the couch in a blanket with tea and more tea trying to clean up my emails. I still have stuff from last week to work through.
Happy Thursday Everyone.
Happy anniversary! My husband and I just passed our 36th. May you be as happy and comfortable as we are with each other. This man was the best decision, the best stroke of luck I've ever had. Congrats! And I hope there is a candlelight dinner in the offing. But I will not ask intrusive questions...;-)
@harbie 20 years and many more to come!! Congrats to you both...it takes 2!

@harbie Happy Anniversary to you and your DH.
Happy Anniversary to all celebrating :)

Just made another glorious NY striploin roast, cooked medium rare. The recipe says to stick the thermometer into the thickest part of the roast. I tried a couple of points and found that the temperature varied by 20 degrees Celsius! I decided to go with the temperature at the coldest point. After all, if part of the roast is slightly over-done, at least the entire roast will be edible.
Anyone have a better suggestion for checking the temperature of a roast? The part I just ate seemed perfect and was delicious. Maybe, as I cut further into the roast, I'll find the meat over-cooked. I am surprised at how much fat I have to trim and toss; might be as much as a quarter of the entire roast! :(
Good Morning Everyone,
It is Friday, yay!!!! Kind of.
Not going to lie last night I was making dinner and trying to clean up the kitchen as it had gotten away from me again and thought okay the weekend is almost here. But that thought was quickly replaced with all of the things I need to get done this weekend.
I am really mentally struggling with the fact that I never have a moment in life where everything is done and now as Mom's mobility continues to go down it feels like the things on me just continues to grow. I am thankful I can take it on and take care of these things but I do also feel like I am failing at keeping on top of them all.
I am stuck in one of those phases where it seems like everywhere I turn there is something else that needs to be done. I feel like I am so far behind at work again, the day to day is taking over which means all my projects are on the backburner and not getting done. At home I just cannot keep up, I need to do the day to day cleaning but the bathroom and kitchen need a good deep clean, the dining room is yet again a disaster because there was free space so stuff got dumped there. It just feels never ending.
But all I can do it take a deep breath and try to tackle one thing at a time which is not my forte, I want it done and I want it done now, my patients is very low right now with myself.
I also need to decide if I am going to run out for a few groceries, I see Giant Tiger has Russet Potatoes on sale and I am out of Russets and really want to make Potato Soup so might run out for those. Plus maybe run into No Frills for a couple things. There isn't much we need but I do not know we will see how the day goes.
Happy Friday Everyone.
Thank you everyone for the anniversary wishes. It was a good day. Sun, coffee with my mom, pickleball with Dh, a “cheap” bill from the mechanic and I made Dh one of his favourite meal requests so he was happy.
We’re at the stage where we don’t get or give GIFTS except for something small like making his favourite meal, purdys vegan chocolates and of course cards every year. We just spend the time together
Good Evening Everyone,
I remembered this morning that I did not put gas in my car on my way home on Wednesday so I decided to run out and do that this morning on my "lunch" because my schedule for next week keeps changing and I have no idea what will happen so I want to be prepared. I could get to any of our local locations but I like to keep her above half a tank just to be sure and I never say I will get gas in the morning.
On my way to get gas I stopped at Giant Tiger and got 2 - 5lb Russet Potatoes for $0.88 (thinking I should go back and grab a couple to drop off at our community fridge) so I can make my soup.
Then I ran into No Frills for a couple of things, I should know by now always grab a cart you can never do it with a basket but there were some good deals, I got:
2 x Sugar $1.88
1 x No Name Zucchini 2.5 LBs $3
1 x Peppers 4-pack $2.88
1 x Grapes $0.98/lb
1 x Almond Milk $2.99 (trying another brand as I am not sure I am ready to go back Silk yet)
2 x Ground Beef $8.75/pack which works out to $3.97/lb
I went in for Grapes, Peppers and Sugar. But could not turn down that price on Ground Beef, it was a limit of 2 packs per customer. We do not need Ground Beef right now but even if we break it down and freeze it, we will use it up. I miss my Almond Milk and found this other brand on sale and they had vanilla so I am going to give it a shot.
Tonight I am making Taco Bowls for dinner to use up some of our older peppers.
Evening all -we are home from sons 5 day adventure of watching the girls!
