@SassyAshley I am curious if your Mom is able to drive her car anymore? It almost sounded from one of the posts that she is pretty much housebound.
Maybe sell her car and then you only have to deal with maintaining one. Just a thought. These are the thoughts that swirl in my head in the wee hors of the morning.
:lolsign:
@lizzie bargain that is wonderful that the Costco is close enough for you to get such great gas savings from. None of the ones here are close enough for me to waste gas driving to. Also waiting in the lineups to pump gas ( I've been told are long? ) is not my strong suit.

I have 2 full days in Capetown. Tomorrow will be a safari and then seeing the highlights of Capetown like Table Mountain, Penguins etc.
Today the newly formed Queen Anne choir put on a very nice performance for us-90 strong with half disembarking tomorrow but new people will join. Clearly I have not been reading my daily program very thoroughly as I only remember seeing one mention of the choir and here they were all decked out in their black and white finery performing for us-so cool. I did them a favour and didn't join as I cannot carry a tune!!

RE: Gas- I seem to have all the promo cards and just fill up at the cheapest place at the time. There is one Shell I do go to out of town if in the area since it is usually the cheapest and then the .03 C off L with CAA is just an added bonus. This winter my gas bill has been pretty low...I guess that is the one perk when you seem to be stuck at home on weekends because of weather.

It's Thursday already! I survived my first night sleeping at my friends house (like everyone I am sure and prefer to sleep in your own bed)
One more night and I did my good deed :) The dogs are no work at all- they basically sleep all the time.
Don't think I will go anywhere today... make it a $0 spend day. I am working anyway so not interested in cleaning my car off afterwork to go out in the dark and cold (miss my garage parking :)) I told DS to take my spot in the garage since he is up and gone before 7am usually- and it snowed heavily last night so I am sure he appreciated not having to clean off his car this morning.
Will make my shopping list from the flyers today at some point. Need to gather my coupons for the paper towel deal starting Feb 1st. (Loblaws deal of the month) I hadn't bought any for a long time and then bought a few the other day but this is a fantastic price ($2 after coupon) so I will stock us up and still use them sparingly.
Fingers cross the dumping of snow skips us but it doesn't look good. I would like to visit my family this weekend if possible but the roads that way have been full of accidents the past week. Last Saturday was a no snow day but they had black ice and reports of tons of accidents and cars in the ditch on the route I would have to take. Getting through it with Feb starting this weekend!

Salvaged 7x Milk2Go shakes and 500mL jug of choc milk from my Shell station

We don’t have Costco gas close by. We do stop at Costco for gas when we drive to NS and in NS the price of gas only changes once a week and all the stations are the same price regardless of location so no filling up to then watch the price drop by 10cents in the next town.
I took advantage of seniors day at SDM to buy my Clinique night cream which clearly is working 😂because the cashier was surprised when I told her I qualified. I turn 59 this year. I also earned 60000 PCO and got the 10.00 gift card. Thankfully the cream lasts over a year because it’s stupidly expensive. I picked up a few things I needed for the cruise and found an expensive serum that I like on clearance for 5.00 so I bought the2 they had left.

Was at Costco yesterday and in a sea of lasagna priced around $20 I found one at $12.51! I think it was a pricing error as it was the same size weight as the others, Woo-hoo! Rang through at that price so I'm happy. Everyone talks about the hotdog and pop special, I found the pizza a great deal at Costco. I usually will get a slice (size of two for $2.59 plus tax) and have it also for dinner.
Looking to update my laptop - have used Acer for years but they don't appear to last as long as an Apple product, But I love microsoft after struggling since Windows 95, my friend is trying to convert me.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Found a coat hanging on the railing outside a Sav-On Foods. It looked clean and new (probably boosted from the Winners, nearby). I don't usually bother wearing a coat, but I picked it up and took it home. I'll wash it and put it to use, some way. :)

@walkonby
, yes at this point she does not leave the house without me. Right now with the current weather she does not leave the house at all.
We have discussed it but I can tell she is not ready to make that step. I think the worry is if/when she gets surgery after she will not have a car and no way of getting a new car.
I am hoping if I can get it fixed and maybe this will be what pushes me to get out more. I am trying to find the positives.

Good Afternoon Everyone,
Another crazy couple of days but do we expect anything less.
Yesterday I got up at 5:30 so I could drive Mom's car before I had to head into work. Originally I was going to take her car if started but I had a fear if I took it, it wouldn't start at the end of the day and mentally I just couldn't handle that. She started so I took her on a drive, came home, grabbed my car and went to work.
The plan was to start it when I got home but I did not leave work until almost 5:30 and since I worked so late I grabbed dinner on the way home. By the time we got done dinner I was done so I did not drive it again and this morning it would not start.
Today I was in a branch again, not a lot got done so I may need to work this weekend to get caught up. We will see.
I did not do any grocery shopping, it was just too cold out today. I had to stop and get a prescription for Mom and put gas in my car and that was enough for me.
Right now I just want to shut my brain off and curl up under a blanket.
Happy Friday Everyone.
-
Sassy i agree with you a blanket sounds good .
I have not been going out much today was to put our garbage out and walk across the street to get the mail.
I invited my brother and his girlfriend over next week .I havent seen him in months ,so i will enjoy the visit .
