Went to Metro today and used $10.00 Airmiles Cash to pay for a few groceries. I thought the $10.00 would come right off the bill but the cashier gave me $10.00 Cash back. Has anyone else used Airmiles Cash yet and what was your experience?

That's weird . Did you pay by a debit card or something ?

Maybe the cashier screwed up or got confused and gave you a regular cash back instead as she was too busy and forgot . Double check your receipt to see if it was an Air Miles cashback or regular debit cash back.

Or maybe she was right after all and that's how they are doing it

I have 175 AM which I am going to use to get a $ 20 GC from Metro in mail ..the same thing if I do as an instant cash back of $ 20 its going to cost me 190 AM ..so its more expensive to do instant cash back with AM as opposed to getting the same in GC in mail ..they are ripping us off for the instant convenience at cash as opposed to getting the same in mail

But my AM is pretty good whenever I order the GC by mail , I get it in 2-3 days time which makes it as good as getting it at cash

According to their website its supposed to come of your bill and not a cashier handing you a $ 10 bill .

tjthemanto, I read somewhere that they are going to phase the gift certificates out but before they do they are going to put them up to 190 airmiles from the 175. It's always something!

That sucks BIG time ..Air Miles has to be the crappiest loyalty program around.

It takes ages to collect a few miles and then you need a zillion Air Miles to get even 20 bucks back ..thesedays I don't even bother carrying myAir Miles card with me . Most of the places which give you AM are overpriced stores like Metro .

I wish stores like Metro would just stop giving out AM all together and keep slightly lower prices instead, so more people would shop there . They give you some crappy AM and then jack up the prie of the product to compensate for it

I think out west the AM program is not bad but in the east its really bad now. Just 3-4 yrs back you only needed 120 AM to get a $ 20 GC and now its 190 Air Miles..that's many times higher than inflation

I have 247 AM in my card, I signed for cash rewards, but I tried to use in Metro and they told me that I have nothing in my card, because the program start in March 2 and if you have points behind that date you can't use in cash

Yes .. You better order a 20 GC for 190 AM soon as they are also phasing out the mailing of GC soon . So you will be stuck with the 247 AM in your dream account and will only be able to use them for big ticket items which need a zillion miles.

I investigated the Airmiles Cash transaction after the purchases made at Metro. I was very confused as to why I had received $10.00 cash back. It seems the Cashier was also confused and had not listened to what I had asked for. She gave me CASH back on a DEBIT card. Maybe the cashier was just having a bad day. Anyway I still have my original Airmiles Cash plus more because I also got bonus miles at Metro.

So sorry to have confused everyone but I was also confused until I investigated.

soo complicated.. at this point I dont really like AM anymore. .. I almost stop buying at Sobeys (atlantic) because of it .. I found them very expensive !

Thanks for the advice, I have all week trying to go into the Airmiles page to get my $20 GC, but the page is to slow and I can't find where are the certificates....
