Hi,
I have just received a letter from my home phone provider (shaw) about rate increases on their basic phone from $21.95 to $24.95 a month. I am just wondering what other people are paying for their home phone to compare. If you could include which company you are with and what you find are their pros and cons that would be great. This thread is currently associated with: N/A

If you call shaw and tell them your considering changing phone companies they may offer you a better rate. They would rather have you stay as a customer than leave. Its worth a shot.

Bell did the same thing to me. My husband called and explained we were unemployed and would have to cancel our service if they didn't reduce it. We received a credit for the difference in monthly costs for a full year. You should definitely call them and if there is competition in your area check their prices too!
Good Luck!

I have had my home phone with talkit since December and have been really happy. It's $60 a year and includes all the bells and whistles including free long distance. You have to purchase the talkit box and pay $30 to have your phone number ported if you want to keep your number. The website is talkit.ca

Yes something like that is over the internet would be good. I just care about that its on my home phone and not my cell. Are there any other inexpensive alternatives? and how would you rate experience?

I was paying around $30 with Rogers....I threatened to cancel to get a better deal and they called my bluff, so now I am home phone free. No cons so far.
