i don't know what to think..i have been following the story and i think she has a mental illness but i think she knew what she was doing.she had intent.she googled how long it takes to die by drowning, then she gave away their carseats, toys and clothing..she killed them, left her wedding ring on the toilet and drove to edmonton, went shopping and had lunch, then tried to throw herself off of a bridge. In my opinion she was going through a custody battle, she wanted to move her children to australia, where she is from, but the husband wasn't having that, and she didnt want to leave without her kids,so in my opinion she had the "if i cant have them then you can't either" attitude..i am just sickened by the sentence.i think she should be in a mental facility for atleast 10 years.now she gets out in 15 months with time served...i ask..where is the justice for these two boys? just my opinion...This thread is currently associated with: N/A

I was debating earlier on whether or not I was going to post this story... I understand that she has a mental illness, but like you said she obviously had the intent to kill them.
15 months (Even with the time she has served) is not enough IMO. She should be locked up in a psychiatric facility or something for a much longer time. Imagine how the father must feel!

yes,i don't discount ppd or mental illness at all,as i have suffered depression.i was lucky enough to never suffer ppd.But in my opinion alot of things went wrong...the courts already knew of her state, she was allowed to be alone with the children..that was mistake one.this case is a case of revenge,i have no doubt about it.i don't want her thrown in jail...she needs to be treated, but she needs to be in a facility for longer than 5 years at least to be rehabilitated.this sentence will not see her rehabilitated, she will be released..then what? move back to australia, free to marry again and have more children? i just feel so sad for those boys..their last moments being held under water by the one they trusted the most...each life was worth more than 6 years each...canada needs to wake up

Didn't hit me the wrong way. This one is just so hard, so tragic. Not PPD but I've been on meds for Clinical Depression for a decade. I know it messes with your thinking. I can't imagine depression messing with your thinking this much though. It sounds like a psychosis - I guess that's how bad ppd can get. I just can't imagine.
That's why i don't know what to say. Pnishment? Treatment? Condemnation? Compassion? I just don't know what to say.
