If there is a theatre-oriented Francophone or bilingual person in Toronto seeking a theatre internship, you might be interested in the various duties provided by this listing. The position would begin in Sept/Oct 2012 and offer a monthly stipend ($300) with a monthly transit pass (I assume it is an adult TTC pass, but confirm that). 36h workweek with duties related to website, admin. support, and other functions.

I was reading L'Express and saw the Theatre's ad on the website, clicked on website and saw the posting on the righthand side. This thread is currently associated with: N/A2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

So glad to see a PAID internship, even though the amount is small. I did a year of unpaid internships. My cousin did two. Good luck to the person who gets it!

Yeah, a lot of places these days just want free intern help and then don't offer a job when the internship is over. I did 8 a month placement at a place and they didn't offer me a job after it even though they knew I was highly interested..
Everytime you like my post I give the dog in my display picture a big *KISS!*

What gets my attention is the fact that Ontario colleges and universities have students over 30 years of age attending their programs and they probably would like co-op placements or internships in their new fields of study. But, I notice that student summer jobs subsided by the federal government require students to be between certain ages. One would think that the job subsidy program would change in concert with provincial post-secondary program changes but it seems the feds and provinces run on their own agendas.
About the internships-it must be a hard reality to do an internship in the desired field, unpaid and not get a job offer at the end. The only thing that might "goose" an intern's chances would be to land a big sponsorship yourself for the employer--if there's money for the upcoming year, then there might be a funded job.
I know that transit in Toronto has its issues but the fact that there would be a provided pass would make the commute easier and then social time easier for the city person who gets the position. I thought it might help to make the Distillery District an easier sell (also, Theatre Francais is headquartered at 22 College St, and has a studio space there, so the pass would help with going between the Berkeley St. theatre and HQ).
