WOW I just clicked on local and I noticed that Edmonton has the most active forum in all of Canada!!

Edmonton: Threads 2,576. Posts 19,073
Halifax (next most active city): Threads 1,863. Posts 13,441
Ontario (all): Threads 3,902. Posts 28,983
Calgary: Threads 262, Posts 1,108
And some folks wonder "why O why" are coupons soooo hard to find in Edmonton!
It takes work and as EdmontonArmyWife put it "the early bird gets the worm".
I wished I lived in Calgary, only for the coupons, way too dry & windy for me.
Cheers!! LizThis thread is currently associated with: N/A

I wonder how many on here are not really from edmonton. Alberta has a large northern population, no other province does. The edmonton forums would be the best choice for "local" information for anyone from the northern towns.

Hi Orual,
Good point! I was born in Ft. Mac and my parents are from the Peace area so I know the north very well.
But even if you took all of the population from Edmonton to the N.W.T is is still not as large as the population in ONT.
And looking at the thread count between Edmonton and Calgary is mind blowing.
I do not know.... maybe we are just more spend thrift here.
I just find it..... a strange anomaly that the Edmonton fourm is so active.

Yes, but the higher cost of living in northern Alberta would motivate more people to coupon and save than in Ontario. Our groceries are so much more expensive than closer to the border.

The cost of living in northern Alberta is not that much more than in Edmonton. Unless you are talking about very remote towns such as Ft. Chip (our son taught there for 2 years), Rainbow Lake, Ft Vermillion etc.
I did take a look at a WalMart flyer in TO and some of the prices were lower, but not by that much, except Kraft salad dressing $3.27west - $1.97east. Some of the prices are lower in the west flyer.
A banners flyer listed $ale price will cover all the locations in Alberta. The Wal-Mart flyer covers all locations in AB BC SK & MB.
It is much cheaper to live in Alberta, no PST, HST and other sales taxes plus we have the lowest tax rate in Canada.
My point was that it is a mathematical anomaly that the Edmonton fourm has so many threads as we do not have the population to support this.

That's me
, Edmonton has more relevant info to me than looking at the rest of the deal sites that have a large Eastern content. Also I have family in Edmonton and visit regularly. I only know of one other Fort Mac SC, as soon as I find a third I'll request a Fort McMurray local forum, until then I'll still be lurking here.
