Aeroplan Miles redemption deals??

I remember a very nice SCer shared Aeroplan miles GC redemption last year. something like $100 HBC GC for half of the regular miles. My question is does it happen often or when it usually happens? How could I know when it happens? I have some miles expire in a few months, I wish it will happen again soon. Thanks for any info.

I think Aeroplan changed to 5 years or something like that.

OP, we did not have enough for HBC gift cards, but we bought magazine subscriptions for gifts through Aeroplan --Mother's Day, Father's Day, birthdays and Christmas

I think the last half Aeroplan deal was around Christmas time.I'm just guessing the next time will be around Christmas if they do the same offer.
