i definately see how mistakes on vwt's can be fixed. but how are mistakes on traditional trains to be fixed? i find it rediclious to hold up a train at the next stop just so the rider who got called out for making numerous mistakes could send another envie with coupons that are in compliance with the rules. i was under the impression with so many traditional trains going south these days that honest FB is expected to be left. is this not why alot of traditional train conductors now ask for riders to report anything against the rules, so that rider won't get the blame? i thought conductors stipulate the "rules" and the concequences so riders would expect the appropriate rating be left if they choose to not follow the rules. 1 mistake = mistake, several "mistakes" i would feel = choice. i really think this topic needs a guidline because what is the point of having "rules" on trains if they are broken & appropriate FB can't be left.

You have good points, Sally is busy and trying to work it out will ensure she receives less PM's but publically "airing dirty laundry" or "flinging dirt" at each other is un-necessary in my opinion. Not saying any particular person in this thread does that, just that it's been happening more and more lately.

I too have had many wondeful trading experiences, which is why I'm a "top" trader. I love it! I think in my 500 unique trades (over 1000 trades overall), I've given maybe 2-3 negative ratings.

My combative comment was based on pre-rating experience. I think everything adds up to a trade rating. For example, someone makes numerous mistakes and then when you bring it up, they are very combative. It makes the other person (in most cases) just want to move on and not deal with the person. That was my original point.

I understand you're point about being combative after the fact but for myself even then, I'd be trying to recitfy the problem. If I messed up a train, I'd be sending some sort of replacement (probably fpc's or a gc) but that's just me.

BP's cover your postage to mail back and the work to sort, organize, verify, use your own envies to mail back, etc. It does NOT cover people's errors. I'm glad you've had good experience with people saying TY for fixing errors but it's not always the case - which is just SAD. Many times my polite pm's are simply ignored. As I said before, I'm always so appreciative when someone says a simple TY. It really means a lot to me.

I've always felt that the trading ratings are based on following rules. If people are to receive a positive rating as long as they send the train on, it's saying it's okay to not follow rules that are set by the conductor that each rider agreed on by joining the train. Personally I think that's a very bad precendent to set. JMHO.

..there is the neutral rating too, indicting that everything didn't run smooth, but that the person may not have intentionally done anything wrong....and i certainly didnt mean that a conductor should sub their own coupons in a VWT, (thats an above and beyond thing that some of us conductors go out of our way to do), but they did take on the job to deal with issues that arise...

I have to agree with bargain hunter lola as I too have done over 1000 trades with more than 500 different SC'ers and have only given 2-5 neg ratings ...if someone makes a mistake even on a reg train and owns up to it ...I tend to accept their apology and move on ...if they offer to send some coupons to make up for their error that is fine also....this is regarding regular traditional trains....mistakes happen

I agree also the neutral rating should be used in regards to a minor error on a train especially if the train does continue moving and makes it home...a few mistakes does not warrant a neg rating to me...but that is just my opinion....
