My suggestion would be to use a sensitive face wash, pat your face dry, then put on aloe vera. You can get aloe vera gel in the pharmacy section in Walmart. It is healing, and will tighten your pores. Imo a good face wash is Cetaphil DermaControl. Here is the website for more info and a coupon: http://www.cetaphil.ca/en/products/DERMACONTROL.aspx

use st. ives exfoliator scrub,a moisturizer( i use the little 1.00 olays, got a whack free awhile ago) with globs of benzagel at night, if you haven't tried it yet!! Acne runs in my family, i was fortunate enough not to get it as bad as my sister's had it at one point but i have still suffered with it for year and the only thing that has worked is st. ives!! Other then that go see a doctor, i saw one at one point but had to stop because i had gotten preg.

Should really get back to the doctor about it again but it doesn't bother me half as much as it used to, after quitting foundation make up and useing scrubs my face has significantly been better, i do still get break outs though and have a few spots to work on!

Face wash that really helped me with La Roche Posay Effaclar gel cleanser. What ever you do, please do not take Accutane for your acne. I got some serious chronic medical problems from taking that drug. It's not worth it!

Hmm well you said you've been to a dermatologist, but have you ever been somewhere else that offers skin care advice? I go to a place that has medical grade skincare products and they offer skin treatments for acne (BLU-U Light, Levulan therapy) and they've worked wonders on my skin! I'm not sure where you're located but just look online i'm sure you can find a place near you. The place I go even has free consultations, it's nice just having someone sit down with you and talk about the best route for your skin. They can also prescribe medications such as Retin A or Tazorac (lotions that will help reduce oil and bacteria in your skin). Best of luck!

(PS I go to Silhouette Cosmetic Laser Clinic in Kitchener ON, www.silhouette.ca)

One of the best natural remedy for oil skin is to use mud packs or clay masks on your face which helps speed up soaking unwanted oil from the skin.

The best cleanser is sulfate free AM cleanser by this brand called Skinn. You can get it from the shopping channel.

Try this at home - Ignore if you don't like ...Take a juice of any fruit (orange, sweet lime, watermelon or papaya) and apply on the face as a mask. This is very relaxing. It cleanses the skin, closes pores and removes oiliness.

I have oily skin too so I know your pain!

    My advice:
    - Wash your face with an oil-free cleanser 1-2times a day...excessive washing/scrubbing won't actually help, you may feel cleaner at first but you're really just upsetting the delicate balance of your natural skin oils!
    - Avoid fatty/greasy foods, and try not to touch your face a lot.
    - My favourite home remedy for pimples is easy: BAKING SODA. Mix 1tsp baking soda with a few drops of water, make a paste, put it on your problem areas, let dry for about 15mins then wash off. It'll help dry the pimples out. Do this once daily until they're gone.
    - Avoid really rich moisturizers, and opt for something lighter and oil-free.
    - Buy some Clean&Clear oil-absorbing sheets to use mid-day, they work fantastic! They'll get rid of your shine and won't mess up your makeup or disturb your natural skin pH. These guys: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ymdOyh7MDL...ing+Sheets.jpg (I actually buy the Equate version at Walmart, same things, half the price!)
    - Get a good mineral makeup, one that won't clog your pores.
    - Exfoliate a few times a week to help keep your pores clear.

This blog has some more tips too:

    Best of luck
(and remember, oily skin might be a little bugger right now, but we're less prone to wrinkles than those with dry skin, so there is a bright side!)

Retin A will help with acne, it's a topical cream. You can get it prescribed by your doctor.

    Hi,
Oily skin is the problem of many people and the most difficult part in oily skin is the use of the product. Many of us don't understand the reason behind the oily skin. There are several factors that are needed to focus on to get rid of oily skin. Concentrate on the diet, avoid junk food and oily foodstuff. There are several other things you can take care of by yourself which really help your skin to be oily free for example wash your face several times a day with clean water, use lemon and glycerin combination in the morning to wash your face. The most important thing using oil free moisturizers like Dermasome that help naturally to make your skin oil free.

Had oily skin since I was young and years later am still quite oily minus the acne. Recently rec'd a sample of Olay's Fresh Effects "Shine Shine Go Away!" and sure like how it controls my shine for longer than anything else I've tried e.g. masks, tea tree oil, etc. Leaves my skin feeling 'normal' (what I imagine normal would be anyway).
