laying down in a dark room with no noise helps, or having a cool shower with the lights turned down or off, It also depends on what kind of migraine, like is it stress, enviromental, ect ect..

Advil liqui-gels work really fast too. I find that putting a cool compress over my eyes in a dark room really relieves the pain.

I used to coach people at a medical clinic on not how to *prolong* their migraines by accidentally eating certain foods... people don't usually make the connection because under normal circumstances they can eat the foods and be 'fine'.. think of it as a 'rocks in the boat' analogy.... if you have no rocks, you can add one (say a bad food) and be fine... but if you already have rocks (stressed, missed breakfast, too much caffiene, already have a headache) then these foods can make things worse... So please don't assume that because these foods don't normally disagree with you that they are ok when you have a headache (sorry, but it took some of my patients just *so long* to get it through their heads lol).
***Soups- ANY KIND***- if you didn't make it yourself using broth from scratch (not preprepared broth) DON'T eat it when you have a headache. I knew a new teacher who almost thought he would have to quit teaching because of the migraines he got every afternoon- soup for lunch!
Some obvious answers: Caffeine, wine, chocolate, msg (including chinese food and ham and bacon-even if chinese says 'no added' msg, it may still be in the prebought sauce they buy). You have to watch for this... one person I know tried to cut out *everything* but she got headaches on the weekends... turns out hubby had been putting an onion soup seasoning mix in the burgers he BBQ'd on the weekends and had been giving her migraines all summer!
Some you may not know:
*Citrus*- Knew one lady who was getting a lot of headaches all of a sudden in the afternoons- was the Christmas season- She was eating a Christmas orange with every lunch.
*Corn* I know this one seems strange, but it is true!

vitamin B
I use to get wicked migraines then the doctor told me to get more B Vitamins not only did it lessen the amount of them I got but if I had one coming on I would pop an extra Vitamin B and it would usually go away...if they got really bad I would go to the hospital and they would give me a shot of Vitamin B instead of pain meds..
stay off the computer if you have a migraine.
Your monitor flickers at a very high rate (your eyes can't register it but your brain waves can.The flicker will increase your migraine.

I was at my doctor's today and he said the root of my migraine could be caused by almost everything under the sun. It could even be the change in weather, days getting warmer or because I might be getting a cold.
The only bad thing now is everytime I touch that area on my head, it still hurts a bit.
Thanks for all your comments! I will try to keep the foods in mind!

I used to get Migraines all the time in high school - dehydration for me so drink lots of water and cut down on caffeine if you drink or eat any. Also, as soon as I get a migraine I take 3 x 200 mg of Advil and I don't get the horrific pain in the side of my head. Lie down in a quiet, dark room and try your best to sleep it off.
