Thread: Toplessness in Canada

Toplessness is legal in Canada for all genders and sexes.
"In 1996, the Ontario court of appeals ruled that women going topless did not imply indecent or sexual behaviour as defined by the Canadian criminal code (R. v. Jacobs, 1996). Similar rulings were made in Saskatchewan in 1998 and in British Columbia in 2000. This chain of events began in 1991 when University of Guelph student Gwen Jacobs, walked in downtown Guelph without a top, thus exposing her breasts. She was arrested and charged with committing an indecent act (DeLonghi, 1992). Jacobs stated that she went topless because it was a hot day and she believed that women should have the same right to go topless as men. She said her behaviour was about empowerment and not just about taking off her top (Canadian Press, 1992). As a result of the Ontario Court of Appeal decision, female toplessness is not considered an indecent act, yet few women go topless in Canada (Murdock, 1996)." Borrowed from a website.

Gone topless at the beach with friends. Get some gwakers, but pretty much ignore them. Most people walking by don't notice
Lots of people topless on the beach in Nice, France when I was there (well, this last time was a bit chilly out..)

Yes... MOST topless males ARE gross! All saggy and beer bellyish. But they do it because they are sweating their rear ends off working hard in summer so who can really blame them??
I for one don't have the confidence about myself it would take to go topless here in Canada. It's just not the norm. If I was on a nude beach... and everyone else was... I likely could. But that's the only circumstance I can think of where I would.

Nope I don't think I would go topless. I suppose the girls wear shirts thing is just too engrained into my brain!
Btw. I was dating a police officer when they 1st passed the law that women could go topless & a woman tried it walking down a busy street. Well someone called it in, and he said that pretty much every male officer on the force tried to respond to that call! (hum...but he didn't - yeah right!!! lol)

I wouldn't do it personally but that's because I'm a bit modest in that regard.
