Question regarding Pampers boxed diapers - on sale this week

Depends on the box size, though it's rare to get a really good deal on diapers at Shoppers unless they're on clearance.

A good price is 10-15 cents a diaper for size 3, 17 cents for size 4, and 19 cents for size 5 before taxes and after coupons.

The regular price at shoppers for these boxes is $36... however, we all know that shoppers regular prices are insane. For shoppers, $22.99 is a good sale price. I bought a few. I've never seen this size box lower than that price at shoppers.

I agree $22.99 is a great price for SDM. However I recently priced this same box at WM and it was $29.97 but on rollback for $27.97 so sometimes SDM beats the competitor.

It's a good price for SDM, but a terrible price in general. WM has boxes double the size for the same price. As a rule, SDM is a really awful place to buy diapers unless they're changing the packaging or something and they have the older boxes on price freeze.

Side note- be careful about buying too many diapers in the smaller sizes. DD1 was born premature- I wound up going through several boxes of newborn diapers (which everyone said I would not use) and then she full on skipped size 1- which I had stocked up on. DD2 NEVER wore size N, wore exactly 12 size 1s and then was in size 2 for ages. You might stock up only to find you have way too many of the wrong size. As a result my daughters have lots of size 1 diapers that they use for their dolls from the open package that I took only 12 out of between the two of them.

Yup my daughter did the same thing, I stocked up on size 1 and 2's and I am still left with packages of size 1's...she wears size 2 now..got super chunky super fast...has been in size 2 for a while now. you never now how fast or slow they will grow.

Mine spent about a month in size 1 and 2 months in size 2. DD2 spent 3mths in size 3 but DS2 has been in size 3 for 4mths now.

They went through a lot of diapers in the first 2ish weeks but once they started pooping 1-2 times a day we went through way less.

It's the poop that gets you in the first few weeks. They can poop 5-6 times a day during that time! Also, the small diapers don't have much room to absorb urine, so it's important to change them often. Newborn diapers leak terribly because they're cut low to avoid the umbilical cord stump. Boys tend to spray out of these diapers! Mine wore newborn for less than a week. I had bought diapers on a crazy clearance at RCSS before DS 2 was born ($10 for a box of 276 or something in size 1!) and because I had stocked up in bulk before he was born, I ended up with one extra box in each of size 1, 2, and 3. Luckily, I knew someone with a baby a few months younger, and while I was willing to just give them to her, she insisted on paying the super discounted price I got them for. So, no loss there for me.

My youngest just turned 1, and I have about 42 weeks of diapers in sizes 5 and some 6 still stockpiled in his closet. If he toilet trains early, I'll count my blessings!

In general, count on a mega pack quantity of diapers to last about a week. The number of diapers in a package goes down with the diaper size, and because larger sizes are more absorbent, the rate of use tends to stay the same.

I know we are discussing pampers here, but I find Huggies to be a 1/2 size smaller. I usually use a pack or 2 of huggies when they've outgrown 1 size but the next size up is a bit big. By the time we get through the Huggies, the Pampers are a good fit.

Keep in mind too that if Walmart sells that size box of diapers, you can always exchange it if babe outgrows it before you've gone through all your boxes.

I also looked closely at the price of those diapers. In the end my thoughts were that I needed to get the diapers anyways so I figured it would benefit me to go all out and stock up and get 20x the points anyways. In the end it will work out when I redeem my points.

My middle daughter just turned 2 and is wearing size 3 diapers, my youngest daughter just turned 7 months and has been wearing size 3 for the last 3 months. Makes it easy to have 2 in diapers when they are both in the same size.

There's usually some sort of bonus points coupon for 3,000 points (which = $6.32 on bonus days). So a package of diapers ends up costing about $2 or $3 !!! Great deal

So long as you don't count your redemptions as free money again. Your bag of 40 or so diapers costs you $9 (when a box 5 times that size costs you $25 elsewhere) if you refer to your redemptions as "free stuff"... it's important that people remember that when they purchase over priced items at SDM - especially mothers who get suckered into buying baby items at a higher price for the BP.
