Hi I just bought 2 Home Depot gift cards from sdm and then went to home depot. But It turned out that balance not showing on any card. The cashier at home depot said that sometimes it takes until midnight for gift cards to be activated.Did it happen to someone else too? I am very worried right now as GC are final purchase.

Make sure the last 4 numbers of the card are the same last 4 numbers on the receipt where it shows it was activated. Sometimes gift cards can take up to 24 hours to activate after purchasing.

I bought a futureshop GC at SDM and within 15min went to futureshop but before I went to cash to check if it was activated and it was no problem. But I was also trying to buy $25 Home Harware GD at SDM and they kept not being accepted (she tried 2 different GC), so I went out to the car and though why not try the $50 and it worked --so my mom's husband is getting 1 GC instead of 2 different ones this year

I did have the exact same thing happen to me during the SDM gift card event.....i bought 2 cards for home depot and went straight there....they weren't activated yet, but when I went another day, they were fine......so don't sweat it just yet, I am sure they will get activated

I had the same issue. I think there is a disclaimer that states to wait at least two hours before trying to use any gift cards purchased.

I bought 2 home depot gift cards during the GC promo. My husband used them last weekend and the cashier said that they were expiring soon. I didn't think that gift cards expired. I will think twice about the promo next year. Makes me really not trust SDM.

I dont think the cashier knew what they were talking about.
Gift cards don't expire. Infact its illegal in Canada for them to expire.

I had a cashier tell me that once but I went to use it within an hour and it worked. My DH was sceptical when she said oh it might not work until tomorrow because we wanted to pick up some toys from ToyRUS right away and sure enough it worked immediately. Make sure you keep that receipt as proof of amount etc. that you purchased in case.

How would this scenario make you not trust SDM anymore? If the cashier at Home Depot gave you incorrect information about the gift cards it would be Home Depot I'd be concerned about not SDM.
