Last night my daughter and I were shopping at Walmart; well, I took her shopping and I was just looking for some deals. Well she went about getting her things (not interested in couponing) and I made my first stop to see if there were any Zantac. Sure enough, there were lots. I grabbed 11 and was thinking ok, now my overage is going to be about 5.00 or so, what should I get? Now, I could have went with the getting the cash back but I wanted to find more stuff to use my coupons on hoping to make it all free.
I looked everywhere and could not find anything I wanted that was on sale and that I had a coupon for. That Walmart has no dairy, cooler or freezers in it making food unavailable to me. I probably would have went with milk but could not do that.
I see my daughter and she is finished and ready to go. I glanced through her cart to see if there was anything I had coupons for. Then I heard myself saying to her "I am not going to pay full price for anything even if I am getting it free!!!". I said I wanted her to take the Zantac and the coupons and she looked at me funny. I just said told her that it would take 5.00 or so off her order and she was happy with that.
Then today, I was thinking of Tinmacks brag and thinking what I must have looked like scouring around that store with 5.00 overage and almost in a panick as to what to do with it. lol. Now I was happy to help my daughter out with the overage but I would rather give away a 5.00 bill than 5.00 overage. lol And then, the "not gonna pay full price for anything even when I could get it free", lol.
I can't stop laughing at myself. Is anyone out there like that too? This thread is currently associated with: Walmart

Haha great story!! I am *totally* like that.
One time I was at No Frills (first time in like 6 months as I think NF is the devil lol) and they had Wheat Thins for $0.97. I had a $1.50 coupon and they said they wouldn't give me the overage so I took my coupons back and just bought them for $0.97 each. No Frills ugh they literally steal from your pocket with that crap. I hate NF lol.
Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed your brag!!Last edited by Bronwen; Fri, Mar 29th, 2013 at 07:30 PM.

JudyHill, how aggravating that your WM has no refrigerated section. I am glad your DD was there to use up that overage, I am a bit of a stickler when it comes to making good use of my overage, my pet peeve is it has to be food so I waste no money on tax, lol.

The zantac are a huge deal for me because I need to take about 3 every day and have been needing them for the last 15 years or so. I used to have to fork over about 10.00 a week on them and now to get them for free and get the bonus overage is a double whammy for me.

Whenever I get an overage,my DH doesn't care if they pay us to take it away. One time I made something like $25 in overage from a rebate. When I came home, he whined about how I bought more stuff we don't need, even though I told him they paid me to take it away. You can guess who is the one that organizes the donations at our house....not him.
OP I never get Walmart overage but I am like that when I spend SDM points. I won't pay full price, even it is free bahahahahaApply every possible promo code to your cart, at every store that you visit (and get points for cash back on top of that?). It's sweet and easy with HONEY.

I hope your dd gets the idea that coupons ARE worth using - ha, ha! I know what you mean about trying to get the best value out of "free" money.

Great brag Judyhill! I love overages and I do not like to pay full price for anything. Sometimes it is not possible otherwise but get an item for full price...

Your daughter got a taste of overages and maybe she will convert to using coupons. Thank you for sharing.freedomslink.com , a cool homepage!

Judyhill you made me laugh! I am totally like that! I like to use my overage to get cheep things even cheeper. I often PM things at walmart and get tons of stuff free even if I only have a few zantac to add to my order lol. Last summer I price matched minute maid frozen juice for .59, my daughters staff discount brought each can down to .54 and the minute maid coupon brought it down to .04....but I was very happy when I found a few zantac to add making about 100 cans of minute maid free! Then I went back to walmart later in the week with a few more minute maid coupons but there were no zantac... I had to think twice before I could make myself pay that .04 a can lol! This happens to me all the time. Luckily, our walmart has milk, so I can always fall back on that.
