So, have any of you guys played Settlers of Catan?
I just got this boardgame for my birthday and was excited to play with dbf. He was so not into the game, and it didn't seem too fun with only two players. Any advice about how to make it more of a hit with dbf? It's supposed to be a lot of fun.

Love hearing about all these great packages!!
Went to a Kids only swap meet today and picked up some great stuff for baby. You'd think with 2 older boys I'd have enough but I can't resist
We let each of the older boys pick something too. Lucas chose a Star Wars ship of some kind and Milo (my 5 year old) chose a pink princess carriage toy with some purple and pink duplo which he has been playing with all afternoon

I have a ton of friends who like Settlers!!! they have Settlers parties and everything. It's kind of like an upgraded version of the game Risk.
My advice would be to get a few friends and make a night of it. Hopefully friends who also like board games and stuff.
Ilove board games but I actually don't like Settlers as much. I love Dixit and Ticket to Ride and Funglish...the list goes on. In any case, Settlers is a lot more fun with more people.

Love that game! My experience is that you need a good group of people to play with and it helps if there's a more experienced person to answer questions etc. It is a lot of fun once you start getting into it!!
Aww! Love that!!
I've heard Ticket to Ride is a lot of fun. Haven't heard of the other two, though.
I really like Apples to Apples too. My husband and his father are in tears from laughing when we play that game!!

My mom isn't as judgmental as what some of you have to deal with, she can be narcissistic, you can't actually have a 2 sided conversation. It is all about what she is doing or how something affects her.
Lol I am playing Risk right now with the kids. 3 little girls are all ganging up on me

Before MIL become ill, every time she came over she needed to be "doing something". She was always so anxious and restless and it drove my husband crazy because she would never just relax and enjoy her grandkids, whom she doesn't see often because we live about 5 hours apart by ferry, etc. She'd want to do dishes, laundry, sweep, take out garbage. One day, I came home from an errand (DH was at work) and MIL was on my deck scrubbing it!?!?
And she's nosey. She wants to know everybody's business and meddles and then makes everyone feel guilty for expressing an opinion on something. LOL She is SO sicilian!!

Good Morning, we made it through the first night home - the puppy was NOT happy in her crate, you should have heard her freakin' out. She went on for about 30 minutes but we held strong. Up to pee at 1am and then up at 6am. So not too bad. She had a pee and a poop abd ate and drank and played and just fell back asleep - I feel like a new mom and should be napping when she does!
Having a coffee (chocolate macaroon) and easter creme egg for breakfast.
