xbox Live Card

on the main blog there is a deal for the Xbox Live Card.
I was excited and going to order a couple for Christmas, but my son just told me that the 720 will be coming out.
Does anyone know if this card will still be required or work?

1.) There is nothing official nor substantiated, that the next generation of xbox (let alone it being named the 720) will be out this year or not. It's possible... perhaps even likely, but there is nothing official.

2.) xbox live gamertags and accounts were carried over from the original xbox to the xbox 360 platform. Even if the 3rd generation xbox *is* coming out, there is nothing to suggest that the network will change.

If I was a betting man, I would say the network will not change. You're talking about a gigantic populous membership base. To "reset" and start a new network would seriously cheese off all those current members.

However, since absolutely nothing has been announced from Microsoft, it's WAY too early to tell or even speculate what the future of the console and the network will or will not require. That being said, these deals on these cards go on two or three times a year -- Even *if* there is going to be a new console by Christmas, you can bet there are going to be promos that will bundle xbox live subscriptions with console purchases.

Just my two cents.
