Hi, I live in the Mississauga area and am in the process of buy a new furnace and A/C.
Problem is that - I find it very difficult to find out how much I should expect to discount prices, what is a good deal, etc....I've been doing web google.ca search and have found nothing really. This thread is currently associated with: N/A

If you look at some of the other threads in Home and Gardens, there are Smart Canucks that found furnaces recently, some with deals.
Do you get ValPak envelopes? Local heating and a/c firms advertise their deals in those envelopes. Check your paper for offers as well as the inserts in your utility bills or online websites for your utility for any rebate/promo.
You did not state if you need natural gas or electric furnace. Got to be clear on what you seek.

I tried to research when buy a new AC unit, it's near impossible to find actual costs, and good comparisons of makes and models.
The distributers, retailers, installers etc do a very good job at making sure you can't find the info.
one thing to try would be to google for price lists. manufacturer price lists and distributer price lists. sometimes you luck out and can find documents online, that you are not supposed to be able to see
when i was looking, i asked a guy who was doing a service call for my neighbor. he gave me some prices that were their full list price on Lennox. it was Sept or Oct, and that is when they are clearing out their warehouses. i was not impressed.
i went to Home Depot, because i was really at a loss with who to deal with, and so i went to them for a quote. The local guys they contract out to gave a a great price on a Trane AC
I wanted to do a side by side comparison of makes and models at that time and found it very hard. maybe you will have better luck (if you haven't already bought)

Thanks for the reply.
No, we have not bought one yet. Likely the end of summer, or early Fall. We may need an AC unit as well. We've heard good things about Trane...
