Is anyone having problems with hotmail and uses Mozilla? Everything was fine until two days ago. Firefox had an update and now when I go into my hotmail, it loads but I can't click on any of my mail. It just keeps loading.
I'd really appreciate any suggestions and/or help. This is driving my crazy!!This thread is currently associated with: N/ALast edited by Scooter; Fri, Nov 28th, 2008 at 11:55 AM.

That sucks! It seems to be working ok here.
I wish I had a suggestion though for you.

Thanks for your compassion, Ilovemykids. I know that it must be just a little stupid thing that I have to do, but I hate messing around with my computer. I don't want to have to take it to my "computer guy" for this, because it will end up costing me money. It is so frustrating. I can see mail that I need to respond to and yet I can't open it. I just want to pick up my tower and shake it!!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Mine is fine with the newest update. I have no idea not that technical.

Thanks, Jenna. I'm not technical at all either. I just don't understand this. My "regular" email account with my cable company works fine. It's just my hotmail account that doesn't work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I need help. I googled my problem and there have been people in the past that have had the same thing happen, but what they tell me to do is pretty scary. I'm hoping that I just need to put a check mark beside some box somewhere or that I have to wait for an add-on from firefox. I'm beginning to thing that maybe I save something in my computer -like a virus- that is making this happen. I have a headache...

I don't think it's a virus. I had the same thing happen to me after I updated my Firefox, but mine was with G-mail. Same thing, it would just reload and reload. The only way I could get it to work was to switch it to standard view instead of HTML (not sure if Hotmail has that option).
I wish I could be of more help.....I know it had something to do with either Shockwave or Java. I kept installing it but somehow Firefox was not accepting that I had it installed and so was working as if I didn't have it. I don't know how I fixed it though!
If you don't get it figured out, PM me and I will ask my husband as he is a computer geek lol.<center><embed src="http://www.widdlytinks.com/myfamily/silhouettes/silhouettefamily.swf" flashvars="t1=The Bernard Family&pv1=0&pn1=6&px1=251.55&pf1=1&pv2=0&pn2=22&p x2=186.8&pf2=0&pv3=0&pn3=12&px3=305.85&pf3=1&pv4=1 &pn4=9&px4=278.8&pf4=0&pv5=1&pn5=3&px5=226.8&pf5=1 &pv6=0&pn6=1&px6=102.8&pf6=1&pv7=1&pn7=24&px7=317. 8&pf7=1" quality="high" wmode="transparent" name="My Family Silhouettes" allowscriptaccess="samedomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" align="middle" height="230" width="500">

Thank you sooo much for your reply vibrantflame. This is exactly what is happening. I can't get into my g-mail account either. There is a little box in the right hand corner just above the start button and when I click on a message, the box just says "loading" but it just keeps going. I have know idea what is loading? I will try tomorrow to switch to view in standard. I saw that, but I didn't click it. Thanks so much for the offer to help me and if this doesn't work, I'll pm you. You are very kind to help me. I am rather illiterate when it comes to computers.

I try to avoid updates as much as I can.

: Oh, I so agree! I hate updates, but my husband thinks that they are really important. My experience- they just screw things up for me. I try to catch the updates before him so that I can deny them, but sometimes he's on the computer and when they come up he allows them. I can always tell because it really messes up my stuff. This should be grounds for divorce!

Try updating your Java to the latest version here:
http://www.java.com/en/download/
Mozilla Firefox does rely on Java for page rendering.
Also, try making a new Firefox profile to start with fresh settings:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Creating_a...ile_on_Windows
Test to see if Hotmail works better with the new fresh profile. If it does, you know you have a preference that is borking things up in your own profile.
As well, keep in mind that Microsoft is taking every step to make sure that Hotmail, now part of Windows Live Services, is not fully compatible with anything except Internet Explorer.
Also, you cannot access your Hotmail with an email client program unless it's Outlook, and even at that, not unless you have a paid subscription.
The monopoly train keeps on a'rollin'.

One more thing - in Firefox, delete your History, and also clear your Private Data - delete all those cookies, the cache, etc. If these are too full, your browser will just stall out.

Scooter: Wow, you scare me!! You are talking in a language that I don't know. I understand about clearing history, cookies, cache, etc. But the other stuff is foreign to me. I'll look into your suggestions and links. Thank you very much. I changed my gmail to basic html and now my gmail works great. My outlook is working fine. I want to change my windows live hotmail to html but there is nowhere on that page that allows me to change it to classic, basic html. I really do think that this is what needs to be done. I just recently, within the last 6 months, had firefox put on my computer by my "computer guy". I don't really understand how it works. I am frustrated.

I hate the new hotmail. I too find it doesn't load right. I have to refresh the page in order for my emails to open and I never had to do that before the update. its very stupid if you ask me.

Melonhead (love your pic!!) I hate change too. I'm like my cat! Why, oh why, do people have to fix things that aren't broken????
