Whever I go to the Freshco near our home, I get different answers. To give an example last time, DH and I purchased an item and it came up at the wrong price and DH calls SCOP. We do not give SCOPS!! I am not confident about my answers I am getting. What? DH looks at me and I thought I read on some posts about SCOPS there and the manager said of course we do, and was corrected and she was going to talk to cashier. Freshco and Food Basics I am not certain about rainchecks, I keep forgetting that Basics does not Price match, don't know why that will not stick.

Just recently about the coupons terminology, 1 per purchase, I had 8 packs of razors and a few shaving creams and she said she had to ring all of them seperately because of the wording on coupon but she will let it go this time and put them all on the same bill. I am trying to follow from the coupon qualifications are and So...is anyone processing the same way as.another cashier at freshco here anyways? They are very friendly and everything but this part is always uncertain, affecting my purchases.

So because of lack of communication and some of these issues I need to work out on a daily basis while purchasing my next question to my SC members. Do you know if Freschco and Basics give rainchecks.

WhenI posted about the razors I could not confiddently offer the suggestion of rainchecks because I do not know for certain.

Also is there an official/legal document for terminology like the SCOP document that I can present to cashiers that they know this is the law of terminology on coupon wording, not just a doctored document from my computer or a bloggers interpretation of verbage. Like a legal CONSUMER document somewhere?

This has to be easier to do.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. I'm always trying to make things easier for me, the cashier and us learning and facing the same issues on a daily shopping basis. Then we just keep the copy in our binders maybe in a plastic sheet and how cashiers when challenged.

Well that settles that! Did you hear about Freshco starting to accept printed coupons? Someone form the Ottawa group said they used one and they took it. Not certain if they changed their policy?

FreshCo belongs to the Sobeys group, and Food Basics belongs to the Metro group. Sobeys accepts printed coupons and so does FreshCo. Here is the printed coupon policy, copy and pasted from the FreshCo website.

Yes, we think coupons are a great way for you to save even more money at FreshCo, so we now accept both Vendor Pre-Printed Coupons and Internet/Printable Coupons.

In order to protect us both from fraudulent coupons that are sometimes found in the market, we have a few conditions:

    • We will accept one coupon per item purchased.
    • Coupons for Buy One Get One will be honoured.

    • All coupons must have the following:
    – A valid product name,
    – A valid expiry date.
    – A bar code.
    – A Canadian redemption address.

    • In addition, for Internet/Printable coupons:
    – Must be legible.
    – Must say "Internet Coupon".
    – Have a value of $25 or less
    – Internet/Printable Coupons for "Free" product will NOT be accepted.

As for the SCOP question, both Sobeys Inc and Metro Inc are signatories to the scanner accuracy document, so both FreshCo and Food Basics should do SCOP. Often there is a small sticker either at the main entrance or at/near the cashes that speaks to SCOP, so look for those if they still seem unsure.

Official info about SCOP can be found here.

And if all else fails, this is the advice on the retail council website:
If a Code of Practice problem cannot be resolved at the store level, please call 1-866-499-4599 to register your complaint.
