High Speed Internet - Need to Find an Alternative to Bell

I've been with Bell for quite a while. Now that I am working mainly from home my broadband needs have grown a little to the point that I hit my monthly caps easily. I had to pay extra $ for the additional traffic I generated. I do hate spending more than $50 a month for my Internet connection. Anyone using any less expensive service? Any feedback on those vendors? Anything to consider? Any promo pricing? Thanks!

Bell has bandwidth caps?

Bell Aliant is unlimited here in NB, NS, and PEI. That's their DSL and their FibreOp service.

Yes, and they are far from generous caps too

Bell's cheapest unbundled reg plan is $39.95 for 5mbps capped at 20GB a month ($29.95 for first 6 months), it gets cheaper in a bundle and they often have specials but 20GB is nothing

Anything but Bell And Rogers ..their rates are horrible , their bandwidth caps are worse and their overage charges and crappy customer service are legendary.

The third party resellers just lease the Bell lines so you will get the same lines as Bell but much cheaper..better rates and much more lenient bandwidth

Teksavvy , Distributel , Acanac , Comwave etc etc ..a lot to choose from

I am planning to check Acanac`s cable packages as well as Comwave`s home high speed internet (cable too). I believe they are using cables, which are not Bell`s. Will let you know when I have more info.

Ontario residents should check out "MNSI." I have been with them for 4 years. The first year was $29.95/mo. with high speed and no caps. The last 3 years I've been paying $39.95/mo. for the same great service. I also got free installation. There is no obligation, you can cancel at any time. When I was with bell, I constantly got interrupted service or no service (stormy weather) at all. I can't recall when the last time my internet was interrupted with "MNSI." My last months bill from bell was $71. Check out their purple website.

I will say about Acanac: if you are sending out emails to anyone with a hotmail address, they might not receive them.
My aunt went with Acanac, and I never got any of her emails. Turns out hotmail was blocking her address because of some shady emails that were sent out using the acanac email address.

I switched to TekSavvy, and I love them. Cheap, and customer service is great (although wait times to speak to a rep has really increased).

I'm with teksavvy. If you have a friend with teksavvy, help them out with a referral because every time you refer someone you get $1 off you bill for life.

I've been using CIK Tel, but they require you to use a Bell landline.

I have been with teksavvy for years and love them. Last year I upgraded to a fiber service with dry loop and got rig of the phone line and now use a magicjack and a cellphone and pay less that I did before. Better service at less cost.

I have heard complaint about acanac from others so they would not be my first choice. Teksavy can be hard to reach these days. They are so busy because lots of people are changing their services to them but the result has been more competetive prices so it is a great. My bill is now less that I was paying last yr. I am sure those with Rogers and Bell can't say that.

I often wonder why there aren't more smaller independent companies that offer internet... there are still small local cabel companies (for example). I know that the big boys always take the cake (Bell, Rogers, Telus, etc) but I wonder if somebody started up something fresh and got 200 customers at $35 a month, could it work? I hope so because I am sick of Bell too

Maybe that's who Teksavvy is (thanks for sharing)? Sounds good to me... but in a small town I am stuck with Bell. lol
