Thread: Electronics at Shopper's?
-

I never wander over to the electronics section at Shopper's but DH and I are debating getting a Wii U for the whole family for Christmas. Does anyone know if Shopper's sells this? Is it usually in stock or do I have to order it? I would love to get it during a big redemption (95 000 pts) but I don't want to have to fight a mob off. Any suggestions? What is the return policy at Shopper's for electronics? Anyone have any negative/positive experiences? Thanks

I *think* the return policy is essentially, if you open it, no longer our problem if it doesn't work, you have to deal with the manufacturer. Correct me if I'm wrong SC-ers!

They'll probably stock it for the Christmas season but they usually only stock one or two per store because they have minimal electronics space and probably no basement lockups in most stores, so if you want it you just might have to fight off a few other people
I think their electronics returns are usually 30 days, but ask for a gift receipt, which extends the return period.
If you have an extra body and an extra vehicle, perhaps send your husband to one store and go to another yourself. If one of you can snap one up, hold onto it for dear life and if you're not the one with the card, just wait there until the other person arrives to purchase it.

I bought our Wii at SDM a few years back and would personally have no concerns about purchasing game systems from SDM. I have also purchased a PS Vita from SDM. I am hoping to use my points towards an Xbox One....crossing my fingers hoping that they will carry them this Christmas!!!

I purchased a Wii from SDM too. But I also heard Nintendo is a good company to work with if their is an issue with the system.
Like others have said - minimal stock. You are definitely better off calling around to the Shoppers in your area and finding out stock - they don't order, HQ sends them their stock. But if you know a manager, you might be able to make sure they get some in stock. Some stores will even set it aside for you (from what others have posted, I wasn't allowed to when I was trying to find a Nexus).
Return Policy: Official policy is no returns on electronics. Some stores will take it back if it's unopened. Some will take it back if it's open and doesn't work. Many stores won't take it back no matter what.

Yes, Nintendo has AMAZING customer service. I had trouble with my son's DSI and took it in to their repair center and literally swapped it for a brand new one...the guy even let my son choose the colour he wanted to trade his broken one for!!

I've also been considering whether I should get the Nintendo DS with my points... I'm glad that Nintendo customer service is good, but I don't know how much I'll be using it when I already have a smartphone and an ipad

When I bought my 3DS there a week ago, I was told that it was final sale. Also, the manager opened my 3DS in front of me without asking, which I thought was rude.

This I exact one I'm looking for, thanks. I went to one Shopper's yesterday and they only had the older version (same deluxe wii but with Nintendoland game instead). I'm glad there's this one available..I'll just have to go to a few more to see if they have any, thanks! The no return policy is kind of a big deterrent though.

I personally don't find the no-return policy difficult, my understanding is that most stores have the same policy for electronics. At least once open. I bought my Wii U from SDM on redemption wknd when it first came out, no regrets. You'll love it!

Thanks for the replies! I think I'm going to try to get it on Bonus redemption.
I work night shifts and there's a 24 hour Shopper's around the corner from where I work so I'm going to head over there at 7am right after my shift to see if it's in stock. If not, I'm going to go to the one that opens at 8am, and if not there, there's another Shopper's that opens at 9am. Plus, I'll send DH out too. Thanks for all the help!
