I want to buy something on Friday, so I can use my $20.00 off with $75.00 and also my personnal coupon 18,500 pts when you spend $75.00. The problem is that the item I want is going on sale on Sat...but my coupons are only good on Friday...so, I was wondering some stores change their prices Friday night after 6:00, does anyone know if this is all the SDM's?

I find it depends on what time the store closes. The closest store to me closes at midnight so they start changing around 9 or 10. Another store closes at 9 and the staff change signs and prices after closing. Another store that is 24 hours may not even change prices until midnight.
The store has to give you sale price if the sign is changed.

The price changes are pushed out by head office to all the stores at 4 pm.
It doesn't matter what time the price stickers go up. In some stores, the stickers aren't up until late on Friday or even Saturday morning. Even if the stickers aren't up, the registers are programmed to change at 4.Last edited by super807; Thu, Jan 2nd, 2014 at 12:56 PM.

I know my local store likes to start changing it around 5pm. Not sure about others though.

Thanks everyone, super807, you seem certain that the changes happen at 4:00, do you work for sdm or worked there? My son used to work at sdm and they used to change prices on shelf at 6:00, but it always seemed hit or miss from head office. My Sdm is sold out of the product I want,so I have to go another one that is 30 minutes out of my way..the things we do to save money!!

I don't work for SDM, but my niece does and has confirmed that for me. So have the cashiers and a manager at two different Ottawa locations that 4 pm is the time the change over occurs. I have never gone as early as 4 myself, I usually wait until 6 or so.

The downtown Toronto and Ottawa ones that allow you to do Sat promos on Fridays are around 4pm but the store do need to hit something to refresh prices and not all prices change (because otherwise I would be a SCOP machine with wrong pricing)
For my local one, they change them around 1am because they are 24hr, if you happen to be there after midnight you often have to wait to checkout while they reboot the system

It must be different for every store and mine are the most restrictive. The cash registers will even freeze or block it and the pharmacy till is even shut down at a certain time.

Yes, I agree with Fallen Pixels-there likely has to be a reboot in order to get the new prices loaded. Sobeys will tend to down their tills prior to midnight on a flyer changeover night in order to get the prices updated.
In Hamilton, Shoppers at Lime Ridge seems to follow the late afternoon/6pm update. Once I had asked about a product still on sale for Friday and employee told me prices had changed (it was after 6pm)-she was taking off the shelf sale signs.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

I'd make sure I had the current flyer handy if I wanted the price on the Friday because I don't want a cashier to get grief. Even Lime Ridge store does not have all tills open on the mall side of the store-sometimes two if the one cashier on till gets the manager or another staffer to open. Have not seen three tills open there and can't say when the cash in the back corner (that exits to parking lot) ever is staffed unless it's for lunch rush hour or similar.
Am aware that Fortino's can update their prices on Thurs nights say after 7pm or by 8:30pm for the following Friday flyer. But the shelf signs stay until closing Thursday night AFAIK.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

I usually hit Fortinos on Friday night (get off the GO there) so have never seen the switch
Cashiers are not responsible for prices at SDM, they advertise a price they should give it to you

My store is sold out of what I wanted anyways, I'm going to get a rain check and hope that it comes in when I get a good personal e-mail, maybe a double gift card event with a save $20.00 coupon when you spend $75.00!! That would be great!!

I always go downtown Montreal if I want to combine Friday and Saturday promos.
