Something like the pepsi rebate would be for the $10 off but you need to buy more since mine lowered the cost of the cases. Points are great for buying something that you always wanted but would or could not buy otherwise. You can stretch out points very far with sales, coupons and other incentives. The drawback is you didn't spend a certain amount so that can affect rebates and government receipts.

If you redeem at the highest level (95k for $70) points are worth 558 per $1 in redemption, so the 15k is worth about $26 back

Really depends if you want points or to not spend money

Good point. I don't have a reason to hold on to points so I might as well spend them. And I can buy lots of things for $85.

    THanks!

With this thread, I have a question regarding points redeemption and points earning:

    In a 20X event, a transaction of $250, redeem 95,000 points for $170, $80 out of pocket.

Do I get 20X on $80 spending in this transaction?

Yes, you'll earn 20x on the $80 balance...but that's only 16K so why don't you redeem while you can get 30K back?

You meant to redeem in a 30,000 points WUS 95,000 points event, right?

20X and 30,000 points WUS 95,000 will be the best combination if it is possible.

They meant that getting 20x the points on the $80 during a 20x the points promotion will only net you back 16,000 points.

With the current promotion, you could spend $170 (without the extra $80) and still earn 30,000 points back. Or if you went for the full $250 you'd be getting back 30,800 points (800 at the time of purchase, 30,000 later). So it's actually a much better deal than a 20x promotion without the extra points back.

But yes, to be able to combine both would be the absolute best option.

    OK. U guys R right.

I didn't get it at the first time and just realized that bonus 30,000 pts WUS 95,000 pts is better than 20X event.

So I should always wait till the bonus points redemption event or MEGA redemption day.

    One more question:

Eaxample: $165 purchase in SDM, it is $184.8 after tax. Can I redeem 95,000 pts in this transaction?

    Thanks!

Redemption amount is BEFORE taxes. So if your redemption amount before tax is only $165 then you would forfeit $5. Eventhough you redeem $170 (your OOP is more than $170), the system would not apply that $5 toward tax.

I believe the get 30K back WUS 95K is better than bonus redemption.

    65K/170 = 382 per $1
    95k/210 = 452 per $1

Yes, that would be best but cashier probably won't let you use both coupons in the same transaction. (It's a hit or miss thing, some cashier will let you some won't)

Wow, Redemption is BEFORE TAX. This is the thing I want to make clear. You guys are right about "30K back WUS 95K is better than bonus redemption".

Playing with SDM Optimum Point System is so much fun. Buying overpriced products in SDM is not though.

    Thanks. Lesson learned.

That's one of the times I'd argue with the cashier to do it - going by a 20x WUS $50, as long as your total is over $50 AFTER the redemption (in the case given it would be $80), then you have met the requirements of both promotions.
