iPhone Issue-Urgent

I know I can call Apple but exercising all options. DS had my phone (iPhone 4) this morning & when I tried to delete a message from my hotmail account nothing happened. Basically the bottom bar that has the trash can etc is missing. I normally select the message I want to delete, then click the trash can or I may select several messages, then click "edit", then click "delete all when that option pops up. My junk mail & inbox are filling up & I need to clean them up.
I've been googling but nothing found to resolve the problem or maybe it's me not understanding Thur tecchy language??? Well, if anyone can explain to me how to resolve this in simple English, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Follow these steps

click on
Settings --> Mail --> Mail, contacts, calendars --> Hotmail --> Account --> Advanced Settings --> Make sure DELETED MAILBOX is checked. NOT ARCHIVE MAILBOX --> Account (top left corner) --> DONE.

Let me know if this fixes your problem.

Thanks but it's not resolved. There's no "advanced Settings" option only "S/MIME" which is in the "off" position..

Nothing...the entire bottom bar is blank...I'm not even capable of sending an email as the icon for that is missing..

Ask DS if settings were changed while phone was in his possession.

does it have an apple on the back of the phone? if not, then its not an iPhone.

DS is a baby ( just learning to speak so very very limited vocabulary-lol)& yes, it has the apple logo on back of phone.
BTW, I called FIDO & they say its not an issue with the phone itself so they can't help. However, when I use the laptop, I can perform these actions that can't be done on the iPhone...gonna walk in a FIDO store for help.

My work is a Apple reseller and I sell iPhones everyday

1. is your iOS up to date, i.e Tap Settings > General > Software Update. --> you should be on iOS 7.0.4

if you are not on the latest iOS then you will start having multiple issues


if you are on iOS7 try this

click on the email you want deleted, then hold down on the bottom middle button and archive message and trash message will come up. choose trash mesage. that's how you delete your messages in ios7


if that still doesn't help, then you may need to delete the email account completely off your iphone and/or do a back up and restore

The problem was automatically corrected while I was checking messages.. not sure what happened but we got a call from FIDO but somehow got disconnected..Thanks all for your help.
