Toronto Zoo Discounts/Deals?

Are there any Toronto Zoo deals/discounts/coupons out there?

We're looking to take the kids to the Zoo but with the price of gas and we may possibly stay a night (long car drive) we're looking to save a few bucks.

I saw a reward on Air Miles for the Toronto Zoo but I'm not sure if it allows you to print and take the print out with you or whether it's a mailed reward? Anyone have any experience?

Also are there any tips I should know (from those experience with The Toronto Zoo)?

I go every year with tickets from Air Miles redemptions. It is a mailed voucher, valid for one year, and has always arrived quickly (within 2 weeks). Parking at the Zoo is $10. You are welcome to bring a picnic lunch rather then pay their crazy prices for food. You should put enough money aside for a Beaver Tail. Do not worry about the calories in one of those, you will work them off with all the walking you will do.

If you think you might like to stay and explore the area for a few days, the Toronto City Pass is expensive but includes some great attractions at a discounted price. http://www.citypass.com/toronto

I've ordered the tickets through air miles so hopefully they don't take long to arrive. We were planning on going this coming week but we've decided to post pone until the air miles tickets arrive. Hopefully we can find some more deals in the meantime.

Bring your kids bathing suits. They have a fun splash pad!

When we went last year there was a gift shop with all panda themed items that was near the pandas exhibit and the kids wanted to spend some money there as well as the regular gift shop. Drinks are expensive, so we brought water and we got one of those large Toronto zoo cups that had a free refill coupon in it. The kids were happy with that because they got juice and a souvenir cup to keep. We did an elephant ride there and I think it was $4 per person. My daughter used her money to buy an elephant painted t-shirt. It was $25 and I know that's a lot but at least it was her money She had to get an adult size and the childrens sizes were cheaper. We also saw the birds of prey shows and the elephant shows which weren't extra money. They were fun to see and in the elephant show you can see them painting which was cool. You may want to bring change/coins with you because there was machines that would melt your coin down and stamp it with a picture of an animal and it would say "Toronto zoo" on it. There is a picture in the next post and I believe that the silver one was $1 and the gold one with the pandas was $5. We got a panda stuffed animal for $14. Pictures in next post

I didn't realize you could ride elephants or that there's a splash pad. I guess it's been quite a while since I've been to the zoo. lol

The elephants are not there anymore. They got moved to a sanctuary in California.

The splash pad is excellent, huge and so fun. The best part for the adults is the seating that rings the splash pad, the majority is in the shade and although I am a walk loving person the zoo is a full day of it and it is very nice to take a break while the kids enjoy the water. There are decent (but usually busy) change rooms too.

Definitely bring your own food and drinks. It is hella expensive and not so tasty. Also, make sure you bring something for shade because it is huge and there will be a lot of walking in the sun
