My husband and I are mortgage shopping and got a ridiculously good offer from CIBC so we'll be moving our mortgage shortly. However while in the office she sold me on opening a checking account & credit card...which will in a few months be a joint account BUT for the purposes of their offer I need to open a single person account initially. The bank account and credit card offer is for new customers only. They deposit 400 dollars in your checking account if you 1.) pay a bill online 2.) set up automatic bill payments 3.) Open a Tim's CIBC credit card and use 200 in the first three months on it. In addition you receive 20 dollars in Tims bucks upon your first credit card purchase...which means I can get plenty of free tea too.
The account I had to start with will cost 10 dollars a month the first three months. I will then transfer the account to another kind to avoid further fees. Subtracting the checking account expenses I will receive 370 dollars cash plus 20 tim bucks. I believe the offer terminates Oct 31st. While it's a bit of leg work...370 dollars is like an ipad...or extra money on my mortgage....or a very merry christmas shopping spree
