I thought everyone would enjoy laughing at my wonderful No Frills experience today.

Firstly, it was crazy busy because of the holiday so I had all my price matching ready and Dec 31 coupons organized to make it as quick as possible.

The first thing price matched went fine, then the second thing required supervisor override (when the supervisor came I asked about it and she said an override is required after $5 of price reduction (me- WTbloodyF) so I sighed and said ok. I also mentioned that I had some coupons and if the cashier would need further overrides. Supervisor said no.

Alright so everything scanned and I hand over my coupons. She looks at the first one which was $1 off Dr. Oetker pizza and calls a supervisor and asks "I have coupons here that expire today, do I accept them?" (me- WTbloodyeffingF) Supervisor said, "of course" and walks away. So she puts in the coupon, and beep- supervisor override needed. Calls supervisor once more to do an override.

Next I have some iogo FPCs from a facebook contest I won. I had 2 coupons, and I grabbed 2 iogo products, sounds simple right? Apparently it isn't.

She looks over the first coupon, looks at the 2 products I bought and says, "I don't know if I can ring this though, I'll call the supervisor". (me- oh %&*#@ CMON!) She calls the supervisor over the cashier phone and asks a few questions, then tells me that I need to buy 4 items to use coupons. I go "wut?" She apparently thought it was bogo, so I had actually argue with her and say "no where on those coupons does it say buy one get one free". So she spent about 2 mins reading over the coupons and called the supervisor again. Supervisor comes over, reads the coupons, rolls her eyes and confirms that they are FPCs. Supervisor walks away, cashier tries to input the price reduction and
    *BEEP* Supervisor override required!

At this point I was ready to slam my face into the closest surface.

Supervisor is called once again, gives her override information over the cashier phone. Second FPC- *BEEP* Supervisor override required! She calls supervisor AGAIN and asks for the information since she doesn't remember it.

And finally checkout and get the hell out of there. At least I think the supervisor was just as annoyed as I was.

Looks like we are all going to have to pack extra patience when we shop in 2015..........what a lot of wasted time due to her inexperience.

Sounds like the supervisor should have just handled your order totally after the first couple of trips over to your checkout.

Yes, the supervisor should have seen that the cashier was in over her head and used the opportunity to train her rather than walking away and leaving everyone frustrated.

How is it the cashiers fault if the system is asking for a supervisor override?

Yes I understand it was her mistake with the FPC but the rest is out of her control.

An experienced cashier can look at the total value of the coupons and keep the supervisor there until she's done entering the coupons instead of calling for override repeatedly. Not very efficient.

I had a similar experience at no frills yesterday also. It looks like they may have changed their policy to curb price matching and detour people from wanting to do it. Worked on me as I was in a rush and basically gave up.

I don't remember ever needing a supervisor at no frills before and all of a sudden the PA is going crazy with supervisor requests.

Looks like I will be shopping elsewhere in the new year!

I think the last time I was in NoFrills, I had an experienced clerk. She looked at the coupons, looked at the lineup and proceeded. A supervisor wasn't necessary.

I'm fairly patient when it comes to inexperienced clerks. You have to learn somehow. But I don't feel that holiday rushes are the exact place for their training. Or put up a sign in their checkout stating that they're "in training" and then it's up to the customer to go to that lane.

Bad experience clearly. I really enjoyed the way you relayed this in your post. I laughed a couple times. You must have friends and family in stitches when you tell a story in person! Sorry this happened to you must have been very frustrating.
