Thread: Salvation Army coupon for $10 off on $25 purchase YYMV

I'm always donating to the Salvation Army and I recently learned that you can ask for a coupon at the store when you drop off a bag of donations. I did that today and the coupon is you get $10 off a purchase of $25 or more. No expiry date, and a limit of 1 coupon per customer per visit.

Karigan I have never ever been given a coupon at the store, and I've made a lot of donations over the years. I like donating, but it's also nice to get this coupon.

It's hard to believe but SA has become one of our most favourite places to shop. We can't believe the high end stuff we find there including brand names like Armani and Boss clothing. Coupons for SA are a great idea as they are the gift that keeps on giving (i.e. if you buy more, you'll have to make room in your closet for more and guess where you'll be taking that stuff...)

I've been given them twice in 10 years. It just a nice bonus. Alot of times when I drop off my stuff, they aren't open. I just like giving to an amazing charity. My DD and I also like shopping there. It is like a huge garage sale. I also feel much better about the environment when I get things there. Less junk for the landfill.
Just joined Kiva.org, an organization that funds micro-loans to people in developing countries. I love the idea that the $25 I saved in groceries can be given to a fish woman with 5 children in the Philippines to help grow her business.

It's so much nicer to donate to Salvation Army, which is an actual charity with all of the proceeds of sales going to charity, than to donate to Value Village, which is unfortunately a for-profit private business that only offers a portion of sales to charity.

Here in London I've always been given a coupon. I always donate to them because I think they really add to the community. I also love shopping there. I've gotten some great things. I remember as a kid I wasn't allowed in thrift stores..eww. My how times have changed.
