Hello
This is my first review
Discovering Guardian Kellogg’s cereals:
I had seen them on stores and on the TV commercial but I found that at $5,99 and + for a 305 g box
It was pretty pricey for my budget.
Few weeks ago, I saw that someone posted a link for $1,50 coupon for these cereals and I thought that of ordering one and knowing that they are , as they say, good for my heart maybe I could check if they taste as good too.
With the hope of my oncoming coupon, I begun to check the flyers to see if I could find a better deal than $4,49 ( $5,99-$1,50) somewhere.
Then, I found the best deal at my WM , they were at $2,97 as some others Kellogg’s cereals making them at the low price of $1,47 with my coupon .
Still waiting for my coupon but well intentioned to get one box for sure as soon as I get it.
Finally , the coupon came and I got the said box of Guardian Kellogg’s cereals. My choice was "Original with a hint of maple flavor"
"Get the facts" they say on the front of the box
Ok , let see what I got
One portion on a 2000 calories daily diet = 1 cup
110 calories
Total fat = 1.5 g
Sodium = 160 mg
Sugar = 10 g
Fiber = 6 g
Thiamin = 0,68 mg
Not bad, but there is always a sides on boxes and it’s usually where they "hide" in tiny letters what they would rather that I don’t see….
So let see, magnifying glass in hand, what I can’t see with my eyes
OH! I found the bug, I was seeking for it and I found them
Their names are : Palm Oil, Natural and Simulated Flavor, BHT to maintain product freshness.
Palm oil : what does Palm oil do in "good for your heart" healthy cereals ?
This is the worst oil that we can find in healthy product
Simulated flavor : why do they need to put simulated flavor as they already have natural flavor in it….is it to make sure that my tongue won’t recognize the real maple flavor
BHT : does anyone know what is BHT ? Doesn’t sound good to me though…
Ok after all , I bought them to taste them and I am at this ultimate final
Aim….
1 cup of Guardian + half a cup of skim milk, I know they say 1% milk but I only drink skim milk.
Fun little "O" and "Heart" shapes , the taste is not bad, sweet, between the two, real and fake maple flavor, they are crunchies but not much, not too hard on the teeth and they have in their favor the fact that after a little time soaking in the milk they are tender in the outside but still crunchies inside .
For the look, the taste and the crunchiest, they pass the test and I give
Them an 8/10
For the healthy side, the bugs still bug me and I give them a 7/10
Will I buy them again?
I would say "yes" but I’ll always be checking for the "one " cereal that is the best and the healthiestThis thread is currently associated with: Kellogg'sLast edited by Mia001; Fri, Jan 30th, 2009 at 09:20 PM.
