What is happening in Hamilton for the Games: http://www.thespec.com/pan-am-games-...uen-provecho-/

As for the food truck lineup at the International Food Court on Ottawa Street North-there will be six food trucks daily. The lineup is as shown (and I do recommend Luchador Taquero, as I had one of their meals last year):
July 11-26: Pan Am International Food Court
Ottawa Street North and Cannon Street
    11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Ottawa Street North is pulling out all the stops during the Games, creating a streetscape meant to be "food central" for people attending Pan Am soccer at CIBC Pan Am Soccer Stadium (Tim Hortons Field). From July 11 to 26, the street will be turning the curb lanes between Cannon and Edinburgh Streets into pop-up patios with bistro-style seating.
Six food trucks will grace the block each day between 11 and 8 p.m., in addition to the street's 16 restaurants.
"While we have put an emphasis on Latin American food, a lot of the trucks we've brought in are experimenting with mixing it with other food," said Ottawa Street BIA Marketing and events coordinator Lauren Olson.
Those with particular Pan-American flair include:
    Choco Churros – July 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 21, 22, 23, 24, 26
    Luchador Taquero – July 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 23, 26
Gourmet Gringos Authentic Mexican Grill – July 11-26
    Fit to Grill (Southern U.S. fusion) – July 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17
    Bombero's Gourmet Nachos – July 11, 12, 18, 19
Eh Jose Authentic Mexican Food – July 12, 19, 26
    Jonny Blonde (Local, American and Caribbean) – July 13, 16, 17, 19, 20
    Texas Tornado – July 14, 15, 21, 22
    Mata Petisco (Latin American and Brazilian) – July 15, 16, 19, 20, 22, 23

Found the Friday opening ceremony show to have made for great tv except for the tedious indoor torch relay portion of the show (next time, just line up all the athletes in one line, smile for the camera with torch in hand when names are read out then pass it to the next person). The pinecone cauldron is quite fabulous (shout out to Hamilton's Dofasco steel and the people who helped designed the cone layer motifs from the various groups)!
Cirque du Soleil's event team did a marvel job weaving in all the elements: music/costumes/history/culture. How cool it was to realize that the country signholders in the athletes' parade were part of the show (the striped socks were a clue)?? The BMX bikes were fun too.

Do share any freebies or swag that is being given out near the Pan Am venues or even during weekdays in downtown Toronto!

The Spec had a story about a pin trader that is keen to swap pins with athletes from Caribbean countries as they are hard to get. http://www.thespec.com/news-story/57...on-the-street/

BTW, Pan Am ticketholders cannot use the UP Express for free in order to get to a venue. The fine print story:

Hamiltonians and visitors have not been stomping over to Ottawa St. N. to keep the food trucks hopping. But Gage Park had some additional traffic on the weekend due to its Pan Am Game tie-in programming during the It's Your Festival.

The Brazilian cycling team got onto the DVP yesterday and police had to escort the team off of it. No charges-lucky!

Some discontent from Ontarians not in the loop about Games venues, event schedules or ticket sales.

Here's the website to address those issues: http://www.toronto2015.org/

So does that means that since Hamilton has an event venue, that is the sole reason that community and daily papers had inserts about the events/dates, etc.? Metroland Media is one of the sponsors for the Games but it owns papers in many Ontario communities.

In today's Hamilton Spectator, there's an ad for the Parapan torch relay event at Bayfront Park for August 4.

Hamilton's Parapan flame event is on tonight at Bayfront Park! I did not realize that a relay took place this morning.

Toronto has two events coming up (per Toronto Star ad): August 6 at David Pecaut Square and August 7 at the Native Canadian Centre (Community Welcome).

Items used in the Pan Am/ParaPan athletes' village and elsewhere are now open for bids on https://www.govdeals.ca/index.cfm

Bidding closing dates-I noticed that washers and dryers end bidding on August 27.

Yesterday's article explains why it'll take a few months before residents can move into the athletes' village. In sum: the athletes got basic rooms. Residency requires a different range of rooms plus there is removal of fixtures and furniture underway now.
